‘Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures’ Wins Two Awards at the 2023 Children’s Emmys

Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures has won two awards for ‘Outstanding Editing for a Preschool Animated Program’ and ‘Outstanding Sound Mixing and Sound Editing for a Preschool Animated Program’ at the 2nd Annual Children’s Emmys, which was held last weekend in Los Angeles.

The series, which is set during the High Republic era (and recently featured a crossover with characters from the publishing world), set around 200 years before the Skywalker Saga in an era of peace and exploration for the Jedi. Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and fan-favourite Nubs (voiced by animation legend Dee Bradley Baker) set out to help others and learn important life lessons in their corner of the Outer Rim. While aimed at the youngest viewers, the series has garnered fans amongst older audiences – including a number of us on the writing team!

The award for ‘Outstanding Editing for a Preschool Animated Program’ was presented to editors Danielle Altura, Zachary Bulman, Pamela Cabrera and Petrus Gammelgard and was shared on X, with a clip from the episode ‘Nash’s Race Day’ to show the caliber of the editing on this series. I’ve been watching the series with my two-year-old and I have been impressed with the quality of each episode and, in my opinion, this award is well-deserved.

The award for ‘Outstanding Sound Mixing and Sound Editing for a Preschool Animated Program’ was presented to Fil Brown, Melissa Ellis, Heather Olsen, David Bonilla, John “J” Lampinen and Robbi Smith. The soundscape of Star Wars has been a big part of the magic from day one and it’s clear a lot of work has gone into making this series sound authentically Star Wars.

As well as the two wins, Yong Jedi Adventures was also nominated for 3 other Awards including Outstanding Preschool Animated Series and Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for an Animated Program. Our congratulations go out to everyone involved in making the series and we look forward to more adventures with our favorite young Jedi!
