‘Ahsoka’: New Clip Revealed for Next Episode; Will Thrawn Appear in Part Four?

With Part Four of Ahsoka only a few hours away, Disney Plus has posted on social media a one-minute clip from the episode featuring Ahsoka and Sabine. No additional context was given, but after what happened in the last episode, we can guess this is from the early moments of the episode.

Here is the new clip:

The trailers have already hinted that Ahsoka and Sabine will have several lightsaber fights in the forest where the clip takes place, including Ahsoka vs. Marrok and Sabine vs. Shin. Footage from Ahsoka vs. Baylan under the map-dome where the latter was last seen has also abounded in the promos so far. All of that hints at a duel-packed episode coming our way, but there is one underlying question: When will we finally make the jump to Peridea and meet Thrawn?

We put up a poll on our Twitter account earlier this week where 38% of the people who participated in it said they think he will make his first appearance in Part Five, which is coming out next week. Despite that, though, I have to stand with my prediction that his first appearance will be the cliffhanger moment of an episode, and it makes a lot of sense that that’d be Part Four (11.5% of the people who voted thought so).

First of all, from a structural point of view, it makes sense that the first half of the show is the search for Thrawn, and the second half is the aftermath of his return. Leaving the audience with a taste of what to expect later at the end of this episode is also a convincing argument for me. On top of that, we’ve already had an episode where Morgan Elsbeth is waiting around for her hyperdrive to be finally put in place, I don’t think dedicating two full episodes to that would make sense. At some point during Part Four, the hyperdrive has to be functional, and I suspect that Morgan will make the jump to hyperspace then. Maybe by the time the new episode begins, the Magistrate is already making the jump to hyperspace, and her mission in the episode is to find Thrawn in this new galaxy.

As far as Hera goes, I think she will spend the episode looking for recruits to fight the emerging threat — Zeb seems like the right candidate here, especially as Peter Ramsey, who is directing the next episode, helmed his live-action introduction in The Mandalorian.

Part Three was a character-heavy episode, but slow on overall plot motion. From what we’ve seen so far, Part Four seems to be a lot heavier in action, though with Filoni writing, it’s a foregone conclusion that there will be a ton of character development as well.

Check back tomorrow morning for our spoiler discussion of the new episode, and stay tuned for the latest Star Wars news!
