‘Ahsoka’: Cast and Crew Talk Complex Characters and Story Details in New Featurette; Character Has Landed in Galaxy’s Edge

To celebrate the release of the first two episodes of Ahsoka on Disney Plus, Lucasfilm revealed a brand-new behind-the-scenes look at the series. In it, the main trio of actresses talk about how excited they are to be playing these characters who are making the jump to live-action, and how eager they are for everyone to watch the show. Showrunner Dave Filoni and executive producer Jon Favreau also step in to talk briefly about it.

Rosario started by hyping up the story, saying it will go “to places you can’t even imagine, with characters you’ve never seen in live-action before”. She added at the end of the video: “This is so powerful. This is provocative, exciting, and fun. I can’t wait for people to watch it.” Mary Elizabeth Winstead explained her character in a few words: “Hera such an incredible leader and fighter”, with Filoni endorsing her performance as the Twi’lek pilot by saying “Mary is just great, I mean, every scene that she’s in was just awesome.”

But the heart of the show, and also of the video, lies with Natasha Liu Bordizzo’s Sabine Wren. Said Filoni: “Sabine is already a warrior, and very proven. And she’s also Ahsoka’s former apprentice.” The actress added: “I love Sabine. She struggles with her emotions, she’s impulsive… I think she’s just relatable. She’s got good intentions, she just doesn’t always make the right decisions.” Jon Favreau brought the entire point of the video home by saying:

“I love the complexity of the characters in this. They are a bit unpredictable, they are all struggling with a set of circumstances and they need each other.”
