Six New Episodes of ‘Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures’ Coming on August 2

Disney Plus has announced that a new batch of episodes from the first season of the animated series for preschoolers, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, will debut on the platform on August 2.

The first seven episodes of the first season started airing on May 4, focusing on the Jedi training of Kai, Lys, and Nubs under Master Yoda and Master Zia, as well as some adventures throughout the galaxy. The next six episodes will continue to explore those intergalactic adventures as well as the younglings’ Force abilities. Lucasfilm has also announced that this is just the first half of the season, as more episodes will be coming out later this year. By the end, season 1 will consist of 25 episodes.

A 30-second teaser was also revealed along with the announcement:

Said James Waugh, series executive producer and senior vice president, franchise content and strategy at Lucasfilm, in a statement:

“We’ve been thrilled to see a whole new generation fall in love with the Star Wars galaxythrough Young Jedi Adventures. We hope to continue delighting younglings, Jedi padawans, and the fans of all ages who have declared themselves #NubsNation, with these new episodes.”

The series is the first time we’re seeing the High Republic outside of the printed page, and acts as a nice appetizer for next year’s The Acolyte, which will be our first look at this new era in live-action. We assume the first few episodes did well enough for Lucasfilm to continue with the rest of the season, but since there is no transparency in streaming numbers, it is impossible for us to make any assessment. The reception was initially quite warm, but dropping all of them at the same time, as well as on the same day as Star Wars: Visions — Volume 2 prevented us from having a real sense of how it played with audiences — though, also, we should keep in mind that the series is aimed at preschoolers.
