Robert Rodriguez Coy on the Future of the Boba Fett Character, Reflects on Filming ‘Star Wars’ Shows

Robert Rodriguez is quiet about the possibility of more appearances from Boba Fett. He also reflected on his experience filming Star Wars for television.

Talking to Gizmodo while promoting his film Hypnotic (which will quietly roll into theaters later this week), The Mandalorian director and The Book of Boba Fett showrunner Robert Rodriguez has mentioned that he can’t say anything about the future of Boba Fett and where he might appear next:

“I can’t say. I’m sworn to secrecy. I wish I could tell you. I know all the answers to what you’re asking, but I can’t say.”

While he couldn’t say anything about the future of the Boba Fett character – though his NDA-mandated silence does more to suggest that there could be more Star Wars in his future than it does the opposite – he was more transparent about his experience with working on the set of two Star Wars shows, and how much that meant to him:

“Everything you saw every day… It didn’t feel like you were seeing behind the scenes. It felt so real. The sets were so real. Even the volume was so real that you felt like you were in Star Wars… You know, there’s these things called ‘Rock Camp’ that if you want to go play with [Aerosmith guitarist] Joe Perry or something, you pay money to get on stage for two seconds with him? This is what a director would pay money to do. To have Star Wars camp. To get to direct and edit and be part of the Star Wars universe just as an experience is one of my favorite experiences because it was just a dream come true.”

Temuera Morrison Boba Fett

This information follows a recent confirmation from Temuera Morrison that he hasn’t gotten a call from Lucasfilm since his show wrapped up, though he was initially led to believe that he would be appearing on The Mandalorian for the show’s third season. It seems possible that whatever plans would have needed Boba Fett in The Mandalorian Season 3 may have just been repurposed for The Mandalorian Season 4, or another season of The Book of Boba Fett, but only time will tell at this point where we’ll see him next if anything happens in the near future.

As of right now, you can get your fix of Boba Fett action with the second season of The Mandalorian and the first (and possibly only) season of The Book of Boba Fett, both of which stream exclusively on Disney Plus.
