‘Star Wars’ Celebration 2023 Day 3 Roundup From the LIVE! Stage
Star Wars Celebration Day 3 has come to an end, and with it another full day on the LIVE! stage with interviews, spotlights, and even a new Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailer. We’ve compiled some of the biggest highlights below.
When the game director for EA Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Stig Asmussen, came onstage, we figured something noteworthy was going to happen, and right after arrived Cameron Monaghan, Cal Kestis himself.
Cameron charmed the crowd with an extended bit on how all anyone wanted to know about was whether there were new, customizable ponchos, repeatedly returning to the subject to the laughter of the crowd and the eyerolls of Asmussen. They then revealed the final trailer for the game.
We also had Ian McDiarmid take the stage to share some of his favorite memories of making the films and interacting with fans over the years. Describing one fan interaction in New York, he said:
“I was in New York, not for Star Wars, I was in a play, and I was walking through Central Park with a friend when all of a sudden someone behind me shouted out ‘Hey, Senator! Good morning!’ and I turned to him and I said ‘I think you mean Supreme Chancellor.'”
Next up, Warwick Davis was on stage to talk Return of the Jedi and Willow, as well as his two children, Annabelle and Harrison Davis, who were also in the Willow series and played small roles in Solo and the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
Harrison Davis was his father’s stunt double for Willow. Asked about this experience, he joked:
“It was quite fun. Of course, just throwing myself around because he didn’t want to [pointing at Warwick].”
Hayden Christensen popped over to the LIVE! stage after his appearance on the Kenobi panel to talk Vader and Anakin, and his experience returning to Star Wars. The crowd reception was so loud that Christensen found it challenging to get words out at times. The emotion in the room was palpable between the interview questions alluding to the changed fan reception of the prequels and the eruption of applause after nearly every word spoken. Asked if he had anything he wanted to say to the fans, Christensen said:
“I love you guys, too. I’ve said this before, but you guys really are the reason we get to be here, that I’ve gotten to come back and play this character again. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
