New ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Footage and Release Schedule Revealed

With less than a week to go before season 3 debuts on Disney Plus, a new TV spot for The Mandalorian has dropped online, teasing some new story details and action-packed scenes for the upcoming series. You can watch the video below:

The clip begins with Din Djarin talking about the danger “out there” — a recurring theme in the promotion for season 3 so far. We see some familiar footage of Din holding a dust-covered Mandalorian helmet before cutting to what looks like an explosive action scene.

Most notably, the Mandalorian in this scene appears to be a new character. The blue armor first made me think of Axe Woves, but the stripe on the helmet doesn’t match his paint job. Something worth noting is that this character bears the symbol of the Death Watch clan. Perhaps this character is part of  The Watch, the Mandalorian cult Din was raised in.

We also get a very brief look at the criminal gang who seem to be causing trouble on Nevarro. We’ve seen the Nikto leader in previous clips, but this brief look shows that this is a multi-species organization. There’s a Quarren in the streets, a Trandoshan on the edge of the doorstep, and possibly a Weequay on the left, but it’s hard to tell as the face is partly obscured.

Lastly, we see Greef Karga wishing Din and Grogu “safe travels” as they board his custom N-1 starfighter. This is actually the most interesting to me as it suggests that Nevarro will be a repeated location throughout the season. Grogu is clearly seen in the rear bubble as they depart, but footage from other trailers shows R5-D4 occupying that slot. We have also seen R5-D4 following the Mandalorian around on Nevarro, so he must have travelled there with him in the astromech port. This suggests to me that this clip is from an early episode, with Din returning to the planet later with the droid in tow. Nevarro has been a repeat location in both seasons so far, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the third season kept up the trend.

Also, it’s hard to tell as it’s out of focus, but as the face details look different, I’d safely say the golden droid behind Greef isn’t C-3PO!

The Mandalorian and Grogu

The clip finishes with some previously-seen footage of Grogu using his mastery of the Force to grab some snacks like the adorable little scamp he is!

In addition to this, the official Star Wars Facebook page (AUS/NZ) has revealed a new poster with the official episode airing dates for the new season. You can check them out below. There seems to be no surprises here. One episode each week and without breaks.
