‘Andor’ and ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Score PGA Awards Nominations

The awards season news just keep on coming. Variety recently reported that the Producers Guild of America (PGA) has announced its nominations for the 2023 ceremony. And two of last year’s live-action Star Wars shows, Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi, are among the contenders.

Andor was nominated for the Norman Felton Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television — Drama. Another of the franchise’s major 2022 releases, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, got a nod for the David L. Wolper Award for Outstanding Producer of Limited or Anthology Series Television.

It’s not surprising to see Andor continue to get recognition from awards shows as the series received notable acclaim throughout its run even if the ratings weren’t always the best (though they may have improved over time). Still, the Star Wars thriller series has some strong competition, as the other nominees include Better Call Saul, Ozark, Severance, and The White Lotus, which are all popular, acclaimed shows in their own right.

Meanwhile, Obi-Wan Kenobi has been racking up its own list of nominations as series director Deborah Chow was just nominated for an award by the Directors Guild of America earlier this week. The Ewan McGregor-led show will surely be in an intense race to win the award, given that the other nominees include but aren’t limited to shows like Netflix’s Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and Hulu’s The Dropout.

As the recent live-action series set in the galaxy far, far away continue to receive attention from awards shows, it’ll be interesting to see how many trophies they walk away with in the end. We’ll find out soon whether or not Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi will be taking home any PGA Awards — the ceremony is taking place on February 25.
