Sabine Actor Natasha Liu Bordizzo Finished Filming for ‘Ahsoka’

Five months after filming began in Manhattan Beach Studios, the Ahsoka series is getting ready to call a wrap. As usual with some of these productions, the main actors are posting on social media that they are now done with the series. In this case, it’s Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who plays the live-action incarnation of Sabine Wren in the new series. (Tiya Sircar voiced the character in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels.)

The actress recently posted on Instagram an image of Sabine Wren, a piece of artwork that Dave Filoni drew for her birthday, and a screenshot of a short paragraph, all with the caption “what a year. This journey… @starwars #SabineWren”. Check it out below:

In early September, lead actress Rosario Dawson indicated that the series still had a couple of months left of shooting. That deadline, which will expire around the end of October or beginning of November, seems to be quite accurate. As the week progresses, we might even get an update from Rosario Dawson herself saying that filming is done.

Dawson has played the character in episodes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. We still haven’t seen Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, though that could potentially happen during season 3 of The Mandalorian, which is currently set to debut in February 2023. No release date has been set for Ahsoka, though a summer 2023 window is to be expected. We will potentially get more details during Star Wars Celebration in London, in April of next year.

As teased this year both at Celebration and D23 Expo, the series will essentially be a continuation of the animated series Star Wars: Rebels. Ezra Bridger will also be making the jump to live-action, played by The Inspection actor Eman Esfandi. The small teaser showed at Celebration also hinted at Hera appearing in the series, though we still don’t know who is playing her. (Current speculation points at Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays an unknown role in the show.) Grand Admiral Thrawn is also expected to appear, though no actor has been confirmed for the part.

Meanwhile, the character of Ahsoka Tano is making a comeback to her original form of media, animation, with the release of the upcoming animated anthology series of shorts, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, on October 26. Our very own John Hoey got the chance to see the episodes early and shared his reaction on social media. You can check it out here.
