Characters of ‘Star Wars: The High Republic’ — The Return of the Nameless

The official Star Wars YouTube channel has started back up its ‘Characters of the High Republic’ video series. We’ve already met Jedi Zallah Macri and learned a little bit about the mysterious group known as the Path of the Open Hand and their leader, the Mother.

A new video has been posted, showcasing the new weapon of the Path, something Marchion Ro would later possess 150 years later. Check out the video on the Nameless below:

First introduced in The Rising Storm as the Leveler, the Nameless are creatures that sap the ability to use the Force in ways that are unnatural. Also referred to as “eaters of the Force”, their first victim in the High Republic was Jedi Master Loden Greatstorm, who was turned into a petrified husk that became dust upon touch. The Nameless would end up being key to Marchion Ro’s plans to decimate Starlight Beacon in The Fallen Star.

Chronologically speaking, they first end up in the hands of the Mother in Path of Deceit. Given an egg by Sunshine Dobbs, the Mother soon learns she is in possession of a being with the ability to take the Force from those who wield it. The Path, being on a mission to free the Force from anyone who would use it, might just have the perfect instrument to make their goals come true.

Phase 2 of the High Republic publishing initiative takes place 150 years before phase 1, and these videos are a great way to introduce casual readers to what’s going on. This phase of storytelling has the goal of fleshing out more of the Star Wars galaxy as we know it. However, things are starting to unravel in this relatively peaceful time. Check out our review of the first issue of Marvel’s relaunch of The High Republic comic series, featuring Jedha in a brand-new light.

Stay tuned for more as we cover all the new books, comics, manga, and whatever else comes our way during this phase of the High Republic.
