The Mandalorian and Grogu Confirmed To Come To Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge This November

Din Djarin and Grogu will be headed to Batuu this November as characters from The Mandalorian are finally introduced to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge section of Disneyland. However, Disney World parkgoers will have to wait.

Today at Disney D23’s park presentation, news on Disney’s acquired franchises were comparatively light compared to news on their businesses and in-house intellectual properties. However, Star Wars got an important update when The Mandalorian series co-creator Jon Favreau walked onto the stage and revealed that the two leads of the series would be appearing to meet and greet fans as part of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge experiences at Disneyland. The announcement was accompanied by a Disney cast member dressed as the Mandalorian walking onstage, before turning to his side to reveal that he was carrying Grogu in a fanny pack. However, it was not indicated that the Galaxy’s Edge expansion at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will get the same treatment just yet, as only Disneyland was specified.

While the lore of Galaxy’s Edge is firmly set in the era of the sequel trilogy in order to have iconography representing all canon eras within it, and up until now, only sequel characters could appear in the park to be consistent with the continuity of the franchise, it appears as though Lucasfilm will be playing with conventions a little for the sake of park guests who want to see more of characters at various points in the timeline. (After all, Batuu is a planet with a long history and many visitors.) The Mandalorian and Grogu’s arrival to the theme park also adds fuel to the speculation that Batuu could appear in the third season of the Disney Plus series, as some have speculated with the newly-released trailer.

Din Djarin and Grogu will be appearing at the parks starting in November 2023. Meanwhile, viewers can catch up on the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, and the spin-off The Book of Boba Fett, which bridges the second and third seasons, on Disney Plus. The third season of the show will air sometime in 2023.
