‘Andor’ Special Look Kicks Off Disney Plus Day With Sneak Peek, Clip, and New Trailer
A new nine-and-a-half-minute preview of Star Wars: Andor has arrived on Disney Plus, kicking off Disney Plus Day.
A new press release from Disney revealed that the company has dropped a preview of Andor, premiering later this month, as part of the festivities that they’re doing to lead into Disney D23. While the press release covers a lot of other things, the part focused on Andor is right below:
Andor, premiering September 21 with three episodes, explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception, and intrigue – one in which Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero. Diego Luna reprises his role as Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Fiona Shaw. The series’ executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Gilroy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna, and Michelle Rejwan. Tony Gilroy serves as both creator and showrunner.
The main clip in this sneak peek is the same as the one that was revealed in IMAX, featuring a conversation between Cassian Andor and Luthen Rael that turns violent when the Empire intervenes. There’s also a new, minute-long trailer intercutting footage from Rogue One with the series, indicating major roles for Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera as well. You can watch the new trailer here:
The first season of Andor will begin airing with a three-episode premiere on September 21, 2022, with nine additional episodes airing in subsequent weeks. A second and final season of another twelve episodes, which will cover a greater period of time and conclude the story in the days leading up to the events of Rogue One, is set to begin filming this November.
