New Video Highlights the Visual Effects Behind ‘The Book of Boba Fett’

The Book of Boba Fett is currently in contention for four Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Season Or A Movie. As part of their For Your Consideration campaign, ILM has released a brand-new video on YouTube highlighting some of the most impressive aspects of the show’s complex visual effects.

The eight-minute video is divided into two segments. The first plays as a recollection of the best moments of the VFX used in the show, while the second segment, which starts at around the 4:10 minute mark, dives deep behind how those moments were achieved. Narrated by visual effects supervisor Richard Bluff, the video gives us new insights into how the BT-16 perimeter droid was created through stop-motion animation, how they used the Volume to film the scenes where Din is flying the N-1 starfighter, or how they brought young Luke to life through deepfake tech. Check it out here:

All four categories The Book of Boba Fett is nominated for will be revealed during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, a two-night ceremony held on September 3-4. In the Visual Effects category, the show is going up against Foundation, Lost in Space, Stranger Things, and The Witcher.

He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
