The Lightsabers from ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Showcased on Social Media

A new collaboration between Disney/Lucasfilm and Twitter allows fans to “find” the most important lightsabers from the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

If you’ve been paying attention on Twitter, the official Star Wars and Obi-Wan Kenobi accounts are now regularly dropping small clips and tidbits to keep fans engaged for the next two weeks, ahead of the series’ arrival on May 27. One of the most peculiar pieces of marketing is an egg hunt of sorts through tweets and “hearts”, but with lightsabers as rewards instead. Check out one of these tweets below:

There are five lightsabers to collect in total, one for each of the five major lightsaber wielders in the show. This might not seem very important or exciting at first, but it’s the first proper close look we have at the lightsabers from the long-anticipated series.

Of course, Obi-Wan’s and Vader’s weapons are well-known at this point, but eagle-eyed fans will surely pick apart the images in search of even the smallest of differences from past iterations. Furthermore, it’s cool to finally see the Inquisitors’ live-action sabers up close. Below you can find all of them if you’re not into hunting them down yourself:

Note that the Fourth Sister’s lightsaber wasn’t included in this promotion. We can infer from the previews and material released so far that her role in the series isn’t substantial, but we now have to wonder whether she’ll get to show off her lightsaber at all.

In related news, Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, and Moses Ingram, plus director Deborah Chow, are now in full press tour mode. One of the most intriguing bits of information we’ve learned in the past few days is Christensen describing the duels in the show as “more in line” to what we saw in the prequels, so it’ll be exciting to see how these lightsabers are put to good use once the series finally arrives on Disney Plus.
