Updated with Hasbro’s Official Images! Hasbro Announces the Launch of HASLAB! Full Coverage of Hasbro’s Star Wars Presentation at Toy Fair

Toy Fair New York kicked off today with some really cool revelations from Hasbro. They announced that their first produced item for their new platform called HASLAB will be Jabba’s Sail Barge. Also our own John Hoey was attending their entertainment brand preview, so read on for all the revelations they did during that special event.

HASLAB is Hasbro’s new crowdsourcing platform that hopes to bring dream products into the hands of fans. You can find more on HASLAB here.

From Hasbro:

Announced at this year’s Toy Fair, HASLAB is Hasbro’s new platform that hopes to put dream products into the hands of fans. To that end, we’re excited to announce that the first HASLAB item is the biggest Star Wars vehicle Hasbro and Kenner have ever produced – fan favorite JABBA’S SAIL BARGE! Measuring approximately 4 feet long, this large scale, highly detailed item features premium deco and vintage packaging. An incredible addition to any collection, Jabba’s Sail Barge comes complete with  exquisitely-detailed and fan accessible interior/exterior decks, one Jabba the Hutt 3.75-inch scale figure, two soft-cloth fabric sails, and other realistic features that mimic one of the most notorious vehicles in the Star Wars universe.

HASLAB takes inspiration from other platforms by inviting participants to support the product by backing the project up front by placing a pre-order. You’re our only hope to make Jabba’s Sail Barge a reality! For Jabba’s Sail Barge to go into production, Hasbro must meet a certain minimum threshold of 5,000 pre-orders. It’s up to the fans to support the campaign and help successfully reach that goal by 11:59pm ET on April 3rd, 2018. Those who pre-order the item will also receive “Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna): Behind The Workbench,”  a premium, 64-page booklet that goes behind the scenes of the design and development of the actual Sail Barge film set piece and Hasbro toy and includes set photos, product blueprints, interviews, and more.

Starting today, fans can place a pre-order for Jabba’s Sail Barge at HASBRO.COM/HASLAB. If the goal is met, the product will go into production. For more information on HASLAB and to follow the project’s progress throughout the 45 day pre-order window, visit HASBRO.COM/HASLAB and follow @HasbroPulse on social media. You can download assets using this link, and we appreciate you spreading the word.

At least $150 in Black Series figures I have to buy. Gamorrean Guard is first on the list.

I just hate that stores get exclusive figures…lol I end up buying all mine on Amazon usually. I mainly collect bad guys, and waiting on a new Palpatine Black Series figure…Will def pick up Dengar, Gamorrean, and the new troopers from Solo. AND TARKIN! Finally!

I also collect the bad guys but purely to cut in half the amount I spend on Black Series figures. It’s probably not happening but I’d like to see a re-release of Bossk and IG-88. I want all of the ESB bounty hunters and you cannot find those two at a reasonable price.

Yeah, that video is quite revealing (pun intended).

At least now we know how they’re hitting that MSRP – no interior, single seat cockpit (and the whole ship is so small that a single-figure cockpit STILL has to be oversized compared to the rest of the ship – goddamn it, Hasbro, once, just ONCE, could Boudreaux pay attention to the proportions of the Falcon? 40 years and he’s never gotten it right) and very, VERY limited deco (literally nothing at all on the bottom), mostly consisting of stickers.

Holy hell, that Sail Barge is amazing. I pretty much stopped collecting modern toys years ago, but I very well might have to make an exception for that thing.

Now Hasbro’s choice wouldn’t have anything to do with the upcoming Solo flick, now WOULD IT??? What’s Jabba up to these days?

Love that the vintage collection is back! I managed to get nearly all of the last vintage collection figures and a few vehicles. Would so love that Sail Barge! Unfortunately I think my wife may have something to say about it. She’s not keen on my current collection. I’ve tried telling her it’s an investment but she just raises her eyes at me!

If you mean scaled to the 3.75″ line, I’m pretty happy with the existing XW, AW, and big-wing TIE, and my Kenner BW is actually pretty decent still . Hasbro DOES need to get the lead out in regards to the Y/W and the TIE X-1. The tooling on both of those dates directly back to the Kenner versions (the Y/W is virtually unchanged, apart from the cockpit interior and removing features like the electronics and the geared landing legs, while DV’s TIE has undergone a little more extensive revising in the Hasbro line, obviously, but the core of the ship is still the 1978 ship, and still looks terrible), and badly needs to be done from scratch with proper proportions. Apparently the DV TIE was done years ago and even had a release date penciled in, but was indefinitely put on hold before being put into production.

Good to see Dr. Aphra among the new figures. Probably the best modern character created in the SW comics.

Kinda disappointment in the force fx saber releases. Is that just Luke and Rey? I would like to see some new stuff, maybe a Kanan, Ezra, Ahsoka, or Sideous release. I must say though, the Kylo center piece will be on my list and will look nice with some of my other statues.

Yeah, but the price on those centerpiece editions has been obscene so far. They look nice, but they’re like, 2, 3 times more expensive than the old ‘Unleashed’ figures? That’s crazy.

The Black Series Vader helmet is really disappointing – even worse than it looked like it was going to be from the first reveal a while back. That was the piece I was most looking forward to. Now I am sad, Hasbro.
