The Last Jedi: EW’s Final Coverage Four Covers Revealed!

We are only 25 days away from the opening of The Last Jedi in theaters, and EW is providing their final coverage of the film this week. The issue will be represented with four covers and features new stills from the film, including a hologram image of Snoke, and some little nuggets about the upcoming entry in the Skywalker saga. Since this is obviously a sanctioned official release, you can proceed safely unless you really want to see nothing more before seeing the movie. But then why would you be here??

The great Anthony Breznican has put together his final full coverage of The Last Jedi. Here are the four covers.

Rey and Kylo Ren

“Could Rey fall to the dark side?”

A recent TV spot has Rey telling Luke, “Kylo Ren failed you, I won’t.” We will see where Rey ends up by the end of the second chapter in the trilogy. A lot of themes surrounding the film’s promotion revolve around a balance between the dark and the light. But if the question from the next cover is any indication, we shouldn’t take these cover quotes too seriously.

Finn, Rose, and BB-8

“Can Finn get his mojo back?”

If Austin Powers could, then we imagine Finn can too. Will BB-8 be joining Finn and Rose on their mission, including their undercover infiltration of the First Order? That would line up with what we are hearing about BB-8 disguising himself to sneak by the evil BB unit BB-9E.

Luke and Leia

“Will Luke and Leia reunite?”

This cover is set with the Millennium Falcon as the backdrop. Is this a tease of things to come? Will everyone’s favorite space-twins reunite aboard the ship they were aboard on their first adventure together fleeing from the Death Star forty years ago? Our hearts swell just thinking about that possibility.

Poe and Holdo

“Can Poe get along with his new boss?”

We all know how loyal Poe is to General Organa, and now it appears Holdo will be taking on a significant leadership/commanding role in the Resistance. Does this mean Leia was ousted or perhaps taken? Either way it looks like Holdo will be thrust into a top role in the Resistance, and it sounds like she may do things a bit differently than what Poe is used to under Leia.

The full coverage is expected today, so be sure to check that out at EW via @Breznican. We have heard that one of the highlights is an awesome hologram of Supreme Leader Snoke, and that we may learn more about the mysterious crystal foxes of Crait.

Keep it right here as we’ll breakdown all of the coverage!

Given Carrie’s untimely departure from the series, I can’t imagine Lucasfilm would tease a reunion if it doesn’t end up happening.

They could have given Leia a better pose. She looks like she is cradling an injured arm. Interesting that there is zero emphasis on C3PO and R2D2.

AGREED — C3PO and R2 deserve a much bigger presence in Ep 8.

Will Rey and Kylo finally kiss?
Will Luke and Leia kiss each other again?
Did Finn ever have mojo to begin with?
Will Oscar Isaac stand on a box in every scene he shares with Laura Dern?
Will Vice Admiral Holdo be the first Star Wars character to drop the F-bomb?

    “Enquiring minds want to know.”

Does anyone have any idea what the finally lightsaber battle will be in episode 9. It can’t be Rey vs. Kylo because after this movie they will have already fought two or three times?

The pattern in Epic Lightsaber battles is usually they fight twice. Luke fights Vader and gets whooped. Luke then fights Vader again and beats him. Obi Wan fights Anakin and beats him. Obi Wan fights Anakin again when he’s Vader and then loses. Anakin fights Count Dooku and loses. Anakin fights Dooku again and wins.

I’ve given up on the Finn theories, but based on the previous protagonists or main heroes in the trilogies they have all lost their first lightsaber fight against the big bad. Anakin losing his arm. Luke losing his hand. And Finn losing his spine?????

Just saying. Based on Star Wars rules wouldn’t Finn need a rematch against Kylo Ren before the end of the trilogy. It would be kind of odd that he never gets a shot at the guy who split open his back and severed his spine.

Now let’s say Kylo is the real protagonist of the trilogy. So he loses to Rey and then he beats Rey in Last Jedi. So what? They fight again in 9 with Snoke watching and we witness on of the two same results that occurred in Last Jedi or Force Awakens.

Maybe they’d fight side-by-side together, and take Snoke out.

That’s a good observation, but something tells me they don’t really care or know about that kind of stuff, I mean the unwritten rules, we’ll see…

If Rian didn’t give us a Luke and Leia reunion, quit simply, I will despise him forever.
