Ron Howard Confirms That Actor Warwick Davis Has A Role In His Untitled ‘Han Solo’ Film

The untitled Han Solo movie, the second stand-alone in the Star Wars franchise, brings back a familiar fan favorite to a galaxy far, far away…. Read on for more details.

On Wednesday director Ron Howard took to Twitter to announce that fan-favorite Warwick Davis, who has played multiple roles in the Star Wars universe of films, will be returning for his new Han Solo film project. Davis recently played the character Weeteef Cyubee in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story last year.

The news of Davis’ addition to the Han Solo lineup comes just hours after it was confirmed that composer John Powell would be handling the score for the second spin-off, which is said to be set ten years prior to the events depicted in the original 1977′ Star Wars film. The news was revealed when Ron Howard was asked if he was ever going to make a sequel to his fantasy his 1988 action film ‘Willow’ to which he answered, “I directed @WarwickADavis for the 1st time in 30 years today. It made me happy.”

Rumors about Davis’ attachment to the film have been running rampant since the veteran actor vaguely Tweeted in May that he had, “the privilege of actually being in that galaxy far, far away at Pinewood Studios.”

Davis was also spotted at Fuerteventura during the filming of ‘Han Solo’ there, but it’s always good to have an official confirmation from the director himself.

So, Howard’s tweet now confirms Davis’ actual involvement in the production.

The long time director recently took helm of the project in June due to the surprise firing of the previous directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, so it should come as no surprise that he would want to surround himself with people he’s familiar with.

As of now, it appears that Davis’ role in the film is being kept under wraps but we’ll keep you updated with latest news as more details become available.

The untitled Han Solo film hits theaters May 25, 2018.

May the force be with you….

“Davis’ addition to the Han Solo lineup”

It may turn out to be a much bigger role! Not just a masked creature. As it appears they have changed the script.

There are always those Chris Claremont novels co-written with GL. I read the first one when I was a kind and liked it, but I have no idea whether they would hold up to me as an adult reader now…

I’m not trying to be horrible, but why does he have to be in every Star Wars movie?

It’s not what you know it’s who you know.

I am sure there are thousands of other little people out there clambering to be in a Star Wars movie.

Yet they favour him over everyone else climbing the ladder of movie stardom …

I agree. It’s like they have to put him in and there’s no point he never even speaks

He isn’t instantly recognisable so can play multiple roles…and is part of the Star Wars family, i’m glad he is there.

“I’m not trying to be horrible”

Well you’re doing it anyway. It’s a fun tradition that hurts no one, and there plenty of other jobs for little people in the Star Wars world.

Why shouldn’t Lucasfilm favor him? He’s got a long history with them.
