Rogue One overall had 9 nominations. Apart from the 3 it won, it was also nominated for Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Best Costume Design, Best Make-Up and Hairstyling, Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, Best Male Newcomer for Riz Ahmed.

In an interview during the awards, Gareth Edwards briefly talked about the upcoming second Star Wars spinoff movie about the adventures of young Han Solo. Edwards revealed that he glimpsed a few things from the movie and is really jealous about it. He also described the Han Solo film as “completely different” from Rogue One, and that from all the Star Wars films that he heard about, Han Solo is probably the greatest challenge. Edwards also expressed his confidence that Han Solo directors Lord and Miller will “knock it out of the park”. You can watch the interview below.

Gareth is a good guy, but he looks like the poster-child for PTSD after his few years in the trenches with Disney. He’s got the talent (and now the street-cred) to do his own thing & hopefully keep his sanity in the process.

Nice to know Disney has found one director who knows what the fuck he is doing and isn’t primarily motivated by his bank account unlike certain other ones….

Like plastic surgery, Hollywood, and politics. I think the less qualified you are the farther you go in the media industry. It’s nice to know that there are still you can fail up at.

I hope Han Solo retains the faithfulness to the OT than R1 did. I see it as being more akin to GOTG though, Maybe not quite so silly but humor is probably going to be a big part of it. I’d also like to see actual space pirates which we never seen yet in any of the films despite being alluded to and being featured in the EU.
