UPDATE! Mark Hamill Pranks Fans With First Look at Episode VIII (of Pop Culture Quest).

While the big reveals about Star Wars Episode VIII will have to wait until April’s Celebration Orlando, Mark Hamill is teasing that we’ll be getting a first look at the movie in the near future through his own show, Pop Culture Quest… Or is he?

If the episodes of the show are released on a weekly basis, then the soonest opportunity that this preview could happen would be on January 10, when the next episode is set to air. Bear in mind that this next episode will be the eighth episode of the show, and he might just be pulling a classic bait-and-switch on us by revealing that he’ll preview the Episode 8 of his own show instead of the next installment to Star Wars. In any case, news on whether or not the Joker is up to his old tricks should hit soon.

Is this really just another case of Mark Hamill messing around with the fans on Twitter in the way that he likes to do? Could we get a title announcement? Will we learn a little bit about the story of the movie? Only time will tell. For now, though, I wouldn’t expect too much – if it’s not just a prank, then we’ll probably get something comparable to the scope of the short teaser we got at the start of filming last year, though it might be a bit bigger than that. We’ll be sure to keep you covered at Star Wars News Net.

UPDATE!

And as many had predicted, it was just another case of Mark Hamill fooling around. Again.

Well, that was a fun little diversion! Now we go back to playing the waiting game.

I think c) is correct. It might be just some funny clever tease for his PCQ episodes. But at the same time… there are only two of them so far, am i right?

It’s Option A now (Hooray for the editing button!), but this next episode will be the eighth.

It is 100% mark messing with fans. I remember when he said he’d show us the “episode 8 trailer” and posted an image of his physical acting trailer on set. I think at most he could have like.. a photo from set

The difference is that at that point, it was way too early for an Episode VIII trailer to drop, as filming had barely begun. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s going to pull another fast one on us, but there’s a chance that we’ll get a *little* something if only because they’re so far into post-production at this point.

…Which is an alternative point that I raised. I did write the article, y’know…

This is not an alternative. This is the correct point of view. Y’know…

History will be the judge of that.

However, it doesn’t really make sense for them to use Pop Culture Quest when they have vehicles like starwars.com, The Star Wars Show, aaaaand the entire corporate conglomerate network of Disney affiliates like GMA. Not to mention Breznician over at EW. Unless there’s an arrangement with Comic Con to help give PCQ a bump.

FWIW, there have often been non-footage teasers for movies that have only just begun shooting.

Did anyone really think that Mark’s show about geek collectors would be the platform they would use to unveil the first major exclusive of Ep. 8?

What exactly? The proper way of being a dick? What Mark did was funny, but it was still a dick move. Most pranks are.

Being a dick is being a dick rather one does it as you say, “with class.” It doesn’t matter, they are still being a dick.*

And trolls are dicks. They could at least do it in a way that’s funny, amusing, or classy. Then they’re not just plain dicks, as you say, and instead are classy dicks. It is preferable to the straight up garbage vomited by the usual suspects on this forum.

Yeah, they are dicks. No question. My point is that it doesn’t matter, a dick is a dick no matter what you try to do, its still a dick.

No I don’t. I disagree. I don’t believe someone being funny, as Hamill was(I didn’t mind the bit), and a troll online is that big of a difference. Both are being dicks. Hamill to Star Wars fanatics, and trolls to everyone. A dick is a dick.
