Nice, but nine tv spots? Seems overkill.

They had that number for TFA

The number was more like 14, plus a good 15-20 featurettes.

Targeted for different people. They aren’t all meant to be seen by everyone.

Called it on the AT-ACT shot! Everyone was freaking out because an RPG could take out an AT-ACT and continuity was ruined and childhood was ruined and everything was ruined.

except the AT-ACT. That was apparently, fine.

Those people were morons. At no point did it even remotely seem to take it out. It’s like people can’t use their eyes.

Forget it Baze, you’re out of your element.

The ION Torpedo only scores you a measly 30 points in Battlefront.

This film looks ridiculously good. It could (and should?) rival TFA. The trailers and TV spots have revealed too much IMO, so it also feels like it’s going to be a bit predictable (aside from being a prequel). Still, can’t wait. Maybe there are surprises. Christmas, at any rate, has finally become sacred for me as well. May the Force be with us.

“The trailers and TV spots have revealed too much IMO,”

They said about TFA and that wasn’t the case. have faith.

I don’t believe in faith but yeah, I’ll stay optimistic, it’s looking so good. My worst fear is, to be honest, the score / soundtrack; if they don’t nail it without Williams, it may end up real awkward.

Rivalling TFA… I think you’re right. At the moment, I want more Jyn and Cassian, not more Rey and Finn. More Empire, not more First Order.

First Order , same type of weapon destroying 4 planets, Who is Snoke, Poe is missing and then appearing , Leia is a bad mother, Luke only take is being sad on a cliiff , Hux bad acting , San Tekka and Phasma being useless , death of Han, everybody could use a lightsaber, young Chewie, not using Sidious plot , nots using Mara Jade ….TFA zzzzzzzzz bring me Rogue One in 2016 now!!!!

      Wait. You mean.

The Rebels successfully capture the plans and win their first major battle against the Empire? Then transmit them to Princess Leia?

I guess you’re right. That IS predictable. But, I wonder why.

P.S. I was super surprised at the end of Revenge of the Sith, too. Anakin Skywalker turned into Darth Vader!?

Since you’re an ignorant, I’ll spell it out for you – predictable in terms of character arcs, character types, interaction, dialogue, side plots, but most of all simply knowing too much; it is not the destination, i.e. Leia receives the Death Star plans, that is interesting, it is the journey – of which we’ve seen a lot. As for Episode III, no didn’t see Anakin Skywalker turn into Darth Vader.

Really? Do you mean the technical execution or the content? Looking at that I’d think romantic tragedy or Hunger Games spinoff before I’d think space opera war movie.

Technical execution, though I do think it touches upon the central theme of the importance of hope.

Did the screenwriters use the Big Book of Cliched Action Movie Dialogue to help write the script?

    • November 22, 2016 at 7:22 pm

You mean…you object to pulpy dialogue ….in your pulpy space opera? Star Wars is SUPPOSED to sound a little goofy – I think it’s partly what makes writing it so tricky. Anyways, they aren’t taking on any obviously problematic things with this film (cough….recasting Harrison Ford…cough cough), and it looks badass so far, with only a couple of things that sound like minor missteps (“I rebel!”, at least out of context, is still a terrible line – who talks that way?). Give it a chance before you write it off.

She says it as a statement, not an exclamation.

        “I rebel.”

Also, please don’t drag more whining about Han being recast into threads about this film. It’s such a tired whine, and I look forward to the possibility of that movie and performance being so good that I can copy and paste your disparaging remarks about it three years in advance of it to show how wrong you have the potential of being.

Ford isn’t a great actor, mimicking him won’t be a chore.

It doesn’t sound goofy. Goofy would be against the norm. This is the norm. It’s the same bland, predictable dialogue we hear all the time.

      Lemme guess….

We will find our hero in a crappy situation on a crappy planet, our hero gets in touch with an old mentor, gets pulled unwittingly into a rebellion and has to transport important information from the bad guys to the good guys, picking up allies along the way, all ending in an assault on a round military base.

      ………..soooo original.
