A friend who works in STAR WARS world said this in passing about EPISODE VIII: “Are you a fan of the Dagobah tree dream scene? Good.” ??????
— DrewMcWeeny (@DrewMcWeeny) October 14, 2016
That was his way of describing the film’s “vibe.” He said it is its own thing, didn’t really feel like a “normal” SW film. Seemed excited.

I really like the sound of this. Rian Johnson can definitely pull this off perfectly.

Riz Ahmed tells you what actor can take down Darth Vader.
Riz Ahmed, who plays Bodhi Rook in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, recently answered questions with People Movies about his introduction to the world of Star Wars at an early age.
“I just remember kind of surreal flicker book of imagery, you know Jabba the Hutt and a beautiful lady in a gold bikini, Ewoks and AT-AT’s – so it formed some of my earliest memories,” Ahmed says. “It’s just the images and the iconic situations and worlds that really stayed with me and really spurred on my own imagination.”
Ahmed also was asked what cast member would have the best chance taking down Darth Vader. The actor hilariously answered with a ‘Rogue One’ co-star.
“I don’t want to mess with Forest Whitaker,” he says. “Do you?”
You can see the entire People Q&A video below.
Ewan McGregor shares some Star Wars: The Phantom Menace memories.
Ewan McGregor, currently out promoting his new movie “American Pastoral” (opening on Friday), which is the actor’s first directorial debut, found a few moments to chat about his work on the “Star Wars” prequels.
While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, McGregor shared his most embarrassing moment during the filming of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
“I remember going there, meeting George, and being allowed to read the script,” McGregor said, referring to his first visit to the north London studio where they’d shoot “Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.” “I had to read it in the producer’s office — like, literally, being almost locked in with the script, so that it doesn’t get leaked — and then being shown around the sets with George. There was a great big submarine thing that I end up in with Liam [Neeson] and Jar Jar Binks. And I remember looking at this huge polystyrene thing [that had been made to look like a] submarine, and there was a cockpit. And I looked at it and I went, ‘Will we go under?’ He looked at me and went, ‘What?’ I said, ‘Will we go underwater with it?’ And he looked at me like I was insane. He said, ‘None of that is real, you know.’ And I went, ‘Oh. Yeah.’”
He also shared his thoughts on working with Frank Oz and Yoda as a puppet.
“I worked with Yoda, like it was on set,” he said. “Frank Oz I think was operating him with his team of people… It was amazing. You’d be really in the moment with Yoda and then they would go cut and all the puppeteers would stop… And then by episode two and three, he was, and R2D2 was the same way. It was computer-generated. It was a shame not to be sort of working with the real thing.”
You can check out the complete interview below.

TFA’s Kylo Ren reacts to the Final ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Trailer.
Cool Quote:
“You know what? How did the Empire blow this? They had it all…They had that thing…what is that?…the “Chicken Walkers”…they had Grandfather…Hope?!…It wasn’t hope! It was a critical design flaw that you were lucky enough to find out about before a team of welders could get out there and fix it!”

Writer Gary Whitta has noticed that the old Haynes technical manual is used for the new ‘Rogue One’ Death Star posters. Nice Catch!

The Pablo Hidalgo Spot.
Pablo finally sets the record straight about the ridiculous speculations that Jyn Erso is Rey’s mother!
Always liked that the reasoning behind character resemblance must = relation ignores the evidence that two unrelated actors can look alike.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) April 10, 2016
@fassbendy No one’s asked. They’re not related.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) April 10, 2016
@StompinSteveB Yep.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 21, 2016
On if Disney is going to change bad guy lightsaber colors.
@LoftusMichy No. We’re going with what George set down.
— Pablurrg Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 18, 2016
Why Luke Skywalker has a green saber in ROTJ!
Remember – Luke had a green one because the effects sequence had it against a blue sky. That’s as deep as these things tend to go.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 18, 2016
And more on the crystals:
Doug Chaing praise.
One thing that can’t be understated re: Star Wars Show. How remarkable it is to have Doug Chiang weighing in on the visual design of games.

Pablo offers insight and direction on the Han and Kylo reunion
@KruszynskiAdam what do you think was tearing him apart?
— Pablurrg Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 18, 2016
On the actor who plays the Clan Leader in the Forceback vision, killed by Kylo Ren.
@TheStarWarsGuru @missingwords @HolocronKeeper Honestly, I don’t think he plays one. He plays the dude killed by one, and was miscredited.
— Pablurrg Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 18, 2016
Have you spotted the Aqualish creature from the final Rogue One trailer?
.@Clayton_Sandell @pablohidalgo By jove, you’re right. I’d guess a different Aqualish, though. pic.twitter.com/3ql40YTnJ0
— Eleven-ThirtyEight (@eleventhirtyate) October 14, 2016
@AdmiralNick22 @eleventhirtyate @Clayton_Sandell That is indeed an Aqualish hiding in the shadows there.

On what kind of war the Rebels and the Empire are fighting in the TV series.
@DreamerM that does match George’s conception of the Galactic Civil War.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 14, 2016
Clarification on Krennic’s age:
@StompinSteveB He’s actually not. I miscounted. He’s about six years younger.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 14, 2016
Clarification on Hobbie and Biggs defecting.
@KruszynskiAdam but since we don’t know the story of Biggs’ defection, it’s possible Hobbie was involved. We just haven’t seen that story.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 16, 2016
@KruszynskiAdam no, I said it was old data and not reflective of the new episode.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 16, 2016
On the Montross two suns.
@josiah4311 two doesn’t mean twin.

On if Kylo destroyed Luke’s Jedi Temple.
@ErinnPascal Kylo is the “Jedi killer”, the one who destroyed what Luke was trying to build. But obviously, no specifics yet.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 17, 2016
Who was Captain Antilles from the Ahsoka novel?
@VeryExciting The same Antilles that Organa orders to wipe C-3PO’s memory in Episode III.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 17, 2016
On the Kalikori reference in Rebels.
@druzod1012 I can’t recall where that came from. It was so long ago! (My suspicions are that it was @HGilroy67‘s doing)
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 17, 2016
Pablo’s thoughts on a possible Obi-Wan spin-off movie.
@Dem_EvilKevin Not up to me. Tricky thing would be the fact that, as far as anyone knows, he never leaves Tatooine.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 17, 2016
On why there are no clones in the Ahsoka novel.
@StarWarsBrony Same reason there were non-clone crewers aboard the Star Destroyer at the end of III. There were some corps ready to roll out
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 20, 2016
Some explanation from Pablo on, what some of his answers could mean.
@JoeyWanKenobi Because sometimes your best story idea isn’t what happens next.
— Pablobot Hidalgonk (@pablohidalgo) October 18, 2016
Stay tuned for more next Friday!
You spelled bikini “bakini”. 😛
The Battlefront ultimate edition sounds good. Finally got a PS4, so I’ll be getting the game soon. Hopefully it’s a reasonable price.
sweet the internets is working again. i thought we were going to have a mass panic on our hands just because people couldn’t tweet for a few hours.
I really need an Obi Wan movie with Ewan, much more needed than a Lando recast, for sure
Damn..so she’s not Rey’s mother after all huh? Welp, she’s Plagueis for sure then!!
Ahem, I think you mean she’s Mace Windu.
How silly of me! Of course! Just like Rey is the reincarnation of Padme. I am soooo ready for Ep VIII.
confirmed!
What a stupid theory. it’s clear to me that she is Snoke, AKA the reincarnation of Obi-Wan.
Can you stop?! Clearly you know nothing about Star Wars! Snoke is clearly Ahsoka..
Shit, you’re right. HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN SO BLIND!!?!
Lmaooo
I always love it when Pablo lets loose little nuggets of information. Sure it’s nothing we can’t know from being uber fans, but sometimes I learn a little something here and there.
So much news!!!
I thought Luke’s lightsaber was green in ROTJ because George wanted to make sure people knew it was a new lightsaber, and not his original one?
These two reasons don’t exclude each other.
The main reason was b/c the sky was blue and made it hard to see. He might have given the other reason also.
RE: Jyn Erso’s relation to Rey –
Come on, Pablo, ya don’t have to be a jerk about it.
Naturally people are going to be speculating about who Rey’s mother is. The timeline of Rogue One and Jyn’s age would make her around Luke’s age. Add to that the fact that she’s the main character, so it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect she has some other ties to the Star Wars galaxy. Then of course you do have her slightly similar appearance (though I think Jyn’s mom actually looks a lot more like Rey, which kind of reinforced the theory for me).
So of course there’s going to be people that will run with any similarity in appearance (Cassian being Biggs’ father was ridiculous and kind of reaching, I thought). But I don’t think the Rey/Jyn theory is one of those examples.
But thank you, Pablo, for debunking this theory so we can spend our time and energy on more productive theories, like the possibility that, hey, who said her father had to be strong in the Force? What if Leia was her mother? That could explain in part her split with Han. In any case, at least now we know, so that’s one off the list.
Not really off the list. He’s lying.
