Star Wars Weekly Social Buzz!

Screenshot-40Check out the latest and most interesting Star Wars posts and shares on the social networks from the past 7 days. This week we have some bits about Rian Johnson, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, John Boyega and of course the latest tweets from Pablo Hidalgo.

Rian Johnson is having fun with one pretty ridiculous theory that Jar Jar is actually a Sith lord. 🙂

And now something much more cooler:

Many people assume that Johnson is talking about Episode VIII. But then again there are some other possibilities as well, like Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver. We know that Rian and Edgar are good friends, so keep that in mind.

John Boyega caught a Pikachu on the Episode VIII set:

You can read the whole interview HERE. The most interesting part:

Like you said before, the way we relate to technology now is unique… Are you playing Pokémon GO?

I do have the app. Currently at level 5, CP levels are looking good. I found a Pikachu at Pinewood Studios while filming Star Wars. I told EVERYBODY. “I got a Pikachu!” I was the most popular kid on set for like a day.

I was in Boston a few days ago and I thought there was like a fight going on, there were so many people crowding… I was like, what’s going on ? Oh, they’re just playing Pokemon. It’s great the ways technology has brought us all together. It’s a very interesting time.

Carrie Fisher will attend this year’s Saskatoon Comic and Entertainment Expo held on Sept. 17 and 18 at Prairieland Park. Full story HERE.

Fisher will attend a spotlight panel where she will talk about her career. Fans will also be able to pay extra to meet Fisher at a photo ops and autograph sessions.

Also Mark Hamill is goiing to Salt Lake Comic Con 2016 on September 1, 2016 (full story HERE):

An imgur member made some cool parallels between the new canon and some Legends stories:

Bob Iger on the Rogue One enthusiasm:

Here’s something really cool. One of our regular readers Teddy Durgin has just published his first novel! It’s a comic murder mystery set in 1986 titled “The Totally Gnarly, Way Bogus Murder of Muffy McGregor.” Being a huge “Star Wars” fan, Teddy managed to slip in at least several references to the galaxy far, far away.

BookCoverHighRes

We want to giveaway 1 copy of the novel to one of our readers. If you’re interested in getting a copy please tell us in the comments below.

You can also order the book from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and most other book sellers in both print and Kindle eBook format. So far the book has 5 out of 5 stars from 20 reviews at Amazon, which is very impressive.

And now the latest from Pablo Hidalgo.

First some tweets regarding the new Rogue One trailer:

On the Rogue One marketing campaign:

On which movies inspired Rogue One (and Rebels):

If someone still has doubts that Rogue One is a war movie:

Interesting tidbit on a reshoot for Revenge of the Sith:

On Flametroopers:

What is it that people think Rey doesn’t remember?

They don’t understand that people usually don’t fully remember things happenned when they were 3ish or very young….

some people are thinking she was trained in the force as a kid and either had her mind wiped like revan or otherwise forgot it until TFA.

So if the little girls want to be a Jedi, that had the prequels’ background female jedi characters to look up to. Is that what Pablo means? What a ****.

Not what she said or what he said. She said “first female Jedi.” He said there were in the prequels. Then she changed it to “lead.”

      What a ****.

Pablo is actually a really nice guy. You’re reading too much into his posts to associate him with negative implied behavior.

The bias is strong with you.

As many times as I’ve watched Episode 3, I never saw that Sheev was using Anakin’s lightsaber when he was being “arrested”. Far more noticeable for me every time I watch it is Obi-wan suddenly having Anakin’s lightsaber in his hand.

    1:51:02 – Anakin’s lightsaber is in Obi-wan’s hand
1:51:03 – Obi-wan’s lightsaber is in his hand
    1:51:06 – Anakin’s lightsaber back in Obi-wan’s hand

yeah, dang prequel editing where George didn’t care about things like which side Obi-wan’s braid was on in Epsiode 1 XD

The braid thing was one shot which Lucas even mentioned on the commentary. As for sabers, take a look at those hilts during the ESB duel. Vader actually uses the Obi-Wan style hilt as the stunt saber if you look close in certain shots, and when he first ignites it. But I get that only the new films get griped about continuity because the older ones get that immunity from criticism status.

Oh well no, there’s a whole ton of stuff that’s wrong with the original ones too, especially since hope had the smallest budget of them all I think. I was just playing off of the other guy’s comment. Everyone’s gotta’ love that infamous trooper who bops his head in a new hope and background tie fighters on the wrong layer in jedi’s space fight!

Agree with what you said, but what do you mean by “background tie fighters on the wrong layer in jedi’s space fight?” What “layer?” Don’t know what you mean there…

Oh, in the final space battle in jedi, some background tie fighters were placed on the wrong layer so they appeared in the foreground by accident. There’s also a few times when they just pop into existance and then fly by

Don’t be so defensive about the prequel trilogy. When GL went back and did all the special editions of the original trilogy he CGI’ed out most of the errors. One of the worst ones was being able to clearly see David Prowse through the Darth Vader mask during the trench run. Kenny Baker could also be seen through the R2D2 big lens. Also, in case you didn’t hear, people are apoplectic about Greedo taking a shot at Han, the inclusion of Jabba the Hut in ANH, etc. You’ve just conditioned yourself to only hear complaints about the prequel trilogy.

Show me where you can actually see Kenny Baker. I see a lighted area in the scene in question but can’t make out a human being. As for Prowse, I liked in certain scenes you could slightly see Vader was a human that had eyes. Showed, even if unintentional, he had a bit of humanity in him.

There’s a point in the scene where Luke and Owen are buying the droids where Kenny Baker’s face can be seen through R2’s “eye”. R2 turns his head, and there it is. Of course, you need to watch the original to see it. (The Despecialized versions are a good way to see.)

I can’t agree with you that seeing Darth Vader’s eyes through the mask is a good thing. Clearly unintentional and totally distracting, especially once you’ve seen it.

I have the original video. It’s in the Sandcrawler. People said you can see Kenny Baker but it’s a light from within of some sort. I can’t actually see a human in there. Yes, I have videos all the way back from 80s. All pre SE and widescreens too.

ROTS scene above was cut, with a scuffle btwn Anakin and OB1 involving changing their swords…….. in ROTJ, Vader holds Luke’s sword under the Emperor’s throne (Luke having surrendered it), but this was cut, except for the tail of the shot, where you can briefly see Vader holding two swords.

Back then though Lucas actually owned ‘his’ movies, JJ isn’t in that position. Not that it matters, JJ’s already admitted he dropped the ball on the lack of a hug between Chewie and Leia, time to move on..

Disagree with JJ being like George with the Starkiller. While Lucas didn’t cling to science fact, all of his cheats make intuitive sense and enhance the world (sound in space, for example). Being able to see across the galaxy in the sky defies all explanation and understanding. It belongs in a drug trip movie. Lucas would never have gone with such a half baked concept (which itself sort of harkens to the worst tendencies of sci-fi to go “bigger.”)
