New Rogue One Character Revealed. Meet Mercenary Pilot Edrio Two Tubes!

Edrio Two Tubes 06

San Diego Comic Con is about to start today. Yesterday was preview night and Lucasfilm’s Pavilion (booth 2913) had an interesting reveal to the fans. Together with some familiar Rogue One characters they have on display a new alien named Edrio Two Tubes. Read on for the details on this new character.

You can get a clear idea of  Lucasfilm’s booth via this tweet from LFL’s Matt Martin:

Although there are not a lot of details about this new character, the official Star Wars Facebook page revealed some details about him:

Edrio Two Tubes is a mercenary pilot who flies alongside his eggmate, Benthic. The two share the nickname derived from the breathing apparatus that allows their Tognath physiology to process oxygen atmospheres. Edrio’s home world Yar Togna was conquered and occupied by the Empire, forcing him to flee as a refugee. Desiring to strike back at the Empire, Edrio and Benthic have allied with Saw Gerrera

And here are some more photos via the official Star Wars Instagram page:

Really excited for the whole Saw Gerrara aspect of this film. Even more than the actual rebels.

The helmet looks really familiar… is it a slightly repurposed head from one of the TFA droids at Maz’s castle?

I thought it looked familiar, too, but I was thinking the Kel-Dor species (Plo Koon)

I poked around and found the pics from the Annie Liebovitz Vanity Fair shoot prior to the release of TFA… This IS the droid I was looking for 🙂

So not quite the same afterall, just familiar.

Similar in shape maybe but that goes for almost every mask with humanoid features doesn’t it?

Do you think it’s some kind of chitin exoskeleton combined with cybernetics or a complete mask. i would really love to see how the second Togna looks like.

Legend has it, that if Mars and Venus align in a fullmoon night and you kill a threeheaded goat in Stonehenge, then and only then, will Gerry Blue post a positive comment about Star Wars 😉

Glad to know I have a following, and none other than artist extraordinaire Bob Ross. I LIKE the character and his/her look, the name, be honest, is really lazy. “Two tubes”? here, let’s use our brains for a little while and come up with a cool name, shall we?

I’m pretty sure the name is a nick-name given to him by his peers in his battalion.

Edrio “Two-Tubes” (Last name not revealed)

Just like Pete “Maverick” Mitchell or Nick “Goose” Bradshaw. That’s not too unoriginal.

Would you rather they just call him Edrio, or something like Edrio Barnabas???

I guaran-fucking-tee that’s a background character whose name we never hear any more than we heard the names of the cantina patrons.

How many Star Wars characters on film have the Darth Vader-esque box on their belly? Is this only the second time or am I forgetting someone? Just on film, not the comics or concept art.

Reminds me of the TIE fighter pilots apparatus with the tubes.

Rebel pilots have a similar apparatus with a tube leading into the suit.

I think that yeti sloth creature in the Rogue one trailer had something similar too. Star wars has a unique desgin and some elements that make an ordinary design more starwarsy. The chest panel is one of them. However i am ok with that because i think they make sense. Since there are so many diffrent species some of them require a breathing apparatus which itself needs energy. Now you could carry that battery on your back but it would be really uncomfortable when sittiing a chair. placing it in the relatively immobile chest are makes sense to me, not only in form but also function.

Makes sense that there’s some standard life-support apparatus that can be tweaked for a wide variety of life forms and environments.

Yeah this a pretty cool design. Neal Scanlan and his team haven’t disappointed on the new creature designs, that’s for sure.

Looks like Edrio has a 18th Century looking rifle too hahaa
