Mark Hamill hints that the Episode VIII filming will finish on the third week of July. He won’t be attending SDCC.
Do you have plans to bring this series (Pop Culture Quest) to Comic-Con this year?
It doesn’t look like I’m gonna be able to make it this year, because of the shooting schedule here. I don’t get back until the third week in July. I wanted to go, because that’s where they’re gonna premiere The Killing Joke, and [Batman voice] Kevin Conroy is gonna be there. I’d love to see it with an audience. But it doesn’t look like my schedule’s gonna allow it this year. My major obligation right now, obviously, is to Episode VIII.It sounds like you may be saying something in this movie, then!
I can’t confirm or deny.

Rian Johnson sets the record straight on the rumors that Episode VIII will be filmed in the US. You probably remember there were multiple reports saying that Episode VIII will be filmed in at least a dozen US cities. All reports had absolutely the same structure which was pretty telling. Not to mention that Pablo Hidalgo also debunked those long time ago.
Sorry folks, ALL the rumors of us shooting in various towns in the states are false. https://t.co/OZnUJSbsfn

Good point on the fans reactions:
It was a year ago that everyone lost their shit about a woman claiming to be Han Solo’s wife.

On the re-shoots:
@stan4prez Yeah, but they’ve made up their mind. No point in trying to convince them otherwise.
— Pablo Hidalgo (@pablohidalgo) June 5, 2016
@stan4prez Remember when the Internet was convinced there was no way TFA could come out in time? Especially after Ford’s injury? PANIC.
— Pablo Hidalgo (@pablohidalgo) June 5, 2016
@stan4prez Because something will come up with the next movie, and they’ll panic over that.

On Lucas’ treatment:
@KenWannb It evolved into the films that entered development.
— Pablo Hidalgo (@pablohidalgo) June 4, 2016
@KruszynskiAdam I don’t think he had any intention on doing it himself. He was retired from the blockbuster business.

On Kylo Ren’s name. Is he a Solo or a Skywalker…
@twinpks Any name beyond Ben hasn’t been revealed anywhere.

On the rumored Darth Vader series, rumored a few years ago, and what would have happened if Disney didn’t buy Star Wars:
Still really psyched and looking forward to these coming out two years ago. https://t.co/Liemphhsqm
— Pablo Hidalgo (@pablohidalgo) June 6, 2016
@Brandon_Bird You joke, but that was gonna be the future of Star Wars had all in 2012 not happened.
— Pablo Hidalgo (@pablohidalgo) June 6, 2016
@clubjade It would have been pretty grim. Big story of 2016? Celebrating 20 years of Shadows of the Empire.
— Pablo Hidalgo (@pablohidalgo) June 6, 2016
Are we ever going to see Darth Vader run? Cool question!
@DeralElfor Can he? Maybe. Would we ever depict that? Probably not. Vader’s like the Terminator. You run from him. He doesn’t run to you.
— Pablo Hidalgo (@pablohidalgo) June 9, 2016
@druzod1012 @DeralElfor You can get away with it in print executions when you don’t have to realize it cinematically.

@Slayers_Goku Only the dark side.

I guess I’m just one of those weird fans that love the OT and TFA but not the prequels? Plus I don’t want George back or any of his input… but I don’t hate him either. He’s human… and by most accounts a pretty decent guy. You’d think after all this time folks could just let it go. I don’t like Temple of Doom or Crystal Skull… I don’t hate Spielberg for all eternity for it 😛
I’m with you and we are the majority. We’re just on a Star Wars fan page in the comments section haha. I never knew that there were so many fans of the prequels until I first visited this site a year or two ago. I’m happy with the current state of SW, and I did not feel that way from 99-05′.
..
Could you not spam photos please?
I agree. The guy is a decent guy, and he DID give us Star Wars to begin with. He has my eternal thanks for that. But he’s just not good at it anymore. I think he’s an idea creator. Not a story-teller. I mean, you wouldn’t want a cook to fix your computer. Even if the cook is the coolest guy ever. I have no hard feelings for George, but don’t want him to have input on the new ones. And I’d still love to meet him.
No, you can’t come on here with a reasonable, sane opinion about Star Wars. What are you thinking, man?
Oh, the irony!
That’s right, man. Most decent words I ever heard from a fan like you and me.
Not as weird as you think. Agree with you 100%.
Huh. I wonder why my comment was deleted. I didn’t disagree with anyone or say anything offensive.
Same here.
i think the vast, vast majority of fans are on the same page as you. Good post!
And yeah, Temple of Doom, meh….
I think you mean te vast mayority of “fans” in the internet complaining about evertything George did, right? You don’t see much of the people here who really like all the movies, because they don´t need to say they love/like the moviens everytime they can, they are happy enjoying Star Wars.
In my opinion, and based on what i know, i think the vast mayority of fans, and im talking real fans not the ones who likes to say they hate prequels every time they can so other “fans” can look how cool they are, the vast mayority of fans loves all the movies, because they know what is Star Wars about.
I respect your opinion, but think about this, how can call fans the ones who only like a Half of Starwars, i think they are “fans” of how star wars “BEGINS” an not of what star wars “IS”.
But the really funny thing is this, how may fans who say they hate or don’t like prequels have (a lot) of prequels collectibles and action figures? I think there are just few who say that that end stay that way just buying OT stuff.
Love Star Wars, be happy :).
I’ll stand by what I say. I know a lot of Star Wars fans and most of them are quite lukewarm when it comes to the Prequels. If a lot of fans dislike the Prequels, it’s quite possibly because they’re just got great movies, rather than them trying to prove “how cool they are.” We’re talking about adults here, not middle school students. Most of my friends are well past the point where we voice opinions in order to mimic those around us.
So, how can Star Wars fans call themselves fans if the last movie they really liked was in 1983? I don’t know. They just do. There is no hard and fast rule to follow when calling yourself a fan. I liked TFA but might someone question my fandom when I tell them that I wasn’t thrilled with the Prequels? Sure. Do I care? Nope. Not a bit.
“…how may fans who say they hate or don’t like prequels have (a lot) of prequels collectibles and action figures?”
I don’t know that either. I collect Star Wars items, but only vintage; I rarely purchase anything produced after 1985. Modern stuff does very little for me. I have a few modern piece (maybe even Prequel-related), but they were given as gifts or they’re Celebration or other items from conventions I attended.
Is good to know you have a solid opinion and stay true to that. But i think you are aware that the internet is full of people like the ones im talking about, and not necesary they are “the vast mayority fo fans” right? And that there is a tendecy to repeat opinions, and blame George Lucas, and say OT is the one and only, because if they say “I like prequels” they will receive a big “booo”. I think thats too silly.
I know a lot of people who like and love I, II, and III, and have a lot of reasons to do it, and dont have any problems with that. but i know people too who sundenly turned, that’s the funny part, They loved the prequels and then suddenly hate them, and say “ha ha ha , prequels suck” but buy all prequel related stuff, and if you ask them, they say “I hate them”, why? “because OT are good, PT are bad”
And im not talking just midle school people, im talking people in his 30s, and 40s.
And how you recognize some opinion repeaters? because they use the exact words, that exact old words, the exact old hate, and every time they can try to let know they only like OT, and it is funny to notice that, they stay stuck in that.
I’m sure not all the people who express himself in similar ways are like that, but i believe there are a lot who are. And maybe I am completely wrong, that could be too.
I think that If fans love Star Wars they don’t need to show the world their hate, every time they can, dont you think?, why to hate in the first place?. And how can “fans” say dont want George back if “he is their father” he created one the the things they love most.
But i know every one have the same right to express their opinion and is fine, i respect that.
Well, it is nice to talk about Star Wars with you Bobby Sharp.
After coming to terms with the different vibe of the TFA I’ve come to realise that each trilogy will have a different feel. This isn’t a bad thing, and while the OT will always be my personal favourite, the prequels and now the sequels will have their own appeal and faults I’m sure.
haha, I keep making the tweet section. Me and Pablo are buds!
meh, pablo hidalgo just nut huggin disney and working that damage control, SOMETHING IS WRONG and if they don’t want to admit it fine. But having this pablo guy blowing smoke up disney’s ass is ridiculous
“having this pablo guy blowing smoke up disney’s ass is ridiculous”
You realize this is HIS JOB correct? He’s not just “some guy.” He arguably knows more about Star Wars than just about any other single person there is. It’s sad that people like you seem to be unhappy unless “SOMETHING IS WRONG” as you so succinctly put it.
He’s been engaging like this with people for months. Why does this particular exchange indicate a problem?
Perhaps you’re too much into fan theories and refuse to admit them to be wrong with Pablo Hidalgo.
What smoke?
Sounds like you’re just one of those that made up their own mind to me, as Pablo said.
I can’t stand twitter but love the pablo round ups!
I don’t care what he says, I think homeless Hamill looks better than shaved Hamill.
Love the weekly round-up of Pablo tweets, great job guys!
“Remember when the Internet was convinced there was no way TFA could come out in time? Especially after Ford’s injury? PANIC.”
.
Ha ha ha. Stupid fans! I mean, all that happened was an entire action sequence was gutted like a trout, reducing the contribution of an entire group of specialty stunt performers to two lines of gibberish before being unceremoniously eaten by giant meatballs. Stupid, stupid fans.
