Star Wars Battlefront: Bespin Trailer.

Bespin

The newest Star Wars Battlefront expansion has just had its trailer revealed, introducing urban warfare to the game and placing a greater amount of emphasis on aerial combat.

The Bespin expansion features, among other things, a new ship (the Cloud Car), several new weapons and star cards, two new heroes (Lando Calrissian and Dengar), five new maps, and a new mode (Sabotage). Interestingly, one of the new maps draws influence from Star Wars Legends (specifically, a West End Games RPG).

From the video I’ve seen, they haven’t been able to produce ANY gameplay experiences in this new game anywhere near as intense as the grenade and blasters firefight that inevitably breaks out in the center of Platforms. Love that level.

What? Two levels and one and a half styles of gameplay wasn’t enough for you? Greedy. How is EA supposed to stay in business if they don’t sell you stuff that should have been in the core game at launch piece by piece?

You know what kills me about that particular SE change? I saw some fluff EPK thing where they were at LFL and talking about the upcoming BD release. In a shot in an editing bay, George is looking at the Bespin stuff, sees the problem and FUCKING SAYS “Oh, ha ha, we’ll have to fix that!”. What did he actually do to the BDs? R2D2 hiding behind unconvincing rocks – obvious disappearing windows? Untouched.

Oi..well, it would have been back a year or so before the BDs came out, and to put it in the vernacular “That’s a video file I’ve not seen in a long time…a long. Time.” 🙂

I get angry everytime there’s a Battlefront news update. I’m breaking my vow of no overly negative posts here, but Battlefront deserves to be ignored until it dies alone and whimpering and bug-ridden. They are milking fans of the Star Wars brand for money, yet, with the exception of great graphics, deliver a mediocre at best experience (for those lucky enough to not have game-breaking bugs stop them from playing the game).

I think Battlefront is a good game, erm… let alone the evil bastard marketing and milking strategy. Typically the game i will buy 5 years after it went out, “complete” and at 30 € ! Fuck you EA !

Jesus, marketing isn’t some sort of sorcery. Buy it or don’t. People do have agency, they aren’t victims of EA. Here’s a product. You can test it out. Don’t like it? Don’t buy it. It didn’t have single player, I chose not to buy. I’m pretty sure this isn’t a moral issue. This is the product, these are how they sell games. You don’t like the model? Don’t buy it. Done. The hyperbole is so silly.

The deep, deep butthurt is largely because, speaking for myself, I waited 10 years for BF3, and what EA has produced for sale really isn’t it. No, no one has to buy it, and I won’t, but that doesn’t mean I’m not disappointed that they had the opportunity to give their customers what they want and just chose the cheap, quick buck route instead. This IP deserved better.

Sorry i don’t want to be rude, but are you blind or lost memory of a what game is meant to be in terms of content ? Let reminds what rebooted BF had at release : no campain, no galactic or strategic map, no space battles (seriously in Star Wars ?! lmfao), not the prequel era era, arcadey and casual gameplay (it looks cool to play though) and this goes on… But to get back to the point i accept the rules of offer and demand and the market laws. it’s like that ! and that’s the problem EA KNOWS people will buy every tiny bits they are throwing at them. Shame people tolerate this.

Sorry after a kid gets eaten by an alligator and 50 dead in Orlando, the fact that a video game doesn’t meet your sniveling expectations really doesn’t bother me. Want better product? Don’t fucking buy it and stop whining.

Really ? Jumping to that arguments ? so weak… At first don’t answer if you don’t want to go in argument. I will buy the game when i would decide. I whine as long is my pleasure. Sorry but everyone don’t like to be milked. Mooh-mooh !!

Yeah, Paris, nigeria, everywhere. The lack of perspective when I hear the wailing over a GAME is eye-rolling. EA didn’t give me a good product. I won’t buy it. Why isn’t that ever enough? Do I have to hear all the wailing and anguish over a game?

Like the programmers make sooooo much money. The rank and file people probably tried to the best the could. I’m sure no one at EA wants to make shit and is smoke 100 bills and cackling with laughter. But that’s the shit you’re selling. and what, you pay 40-60 bucks for something that with labor and time, probably cost millions and your just Oh-so-ANGRY!

Lighten up Francis.Your entertainment didn’t quite fulfill your expectations. What a horrible set of events! Spoiled rotten children.

If you’re so bothered by someone complaining about a game, use the same approach as if you were offended by something: don’t watch it or listen to it.

We’re all fortunate enough to live in a safe environment and talk about Star Wars, instead of talking to our family members about how we’re going to put food on the table.

If you don’t agree with that, then clearly you’re in the wrong environment. There are plenty of political websites you can go to.

The DLC approach goes something like this: release a half-complete game, advertise and eventually release X amount of DLC’s over a period of a year. Typically, by the time the last DLC is released, the sequel to the game (in this case Battlefront) will have a release date shortly after the final DLC for the original game. That way, if consumers buy all the DLCs and the sequel, it’s a consistent flow of revenue for the game company. It’s a good marketing strategy, but it’s also a blatant money grab. The sooner consumers realize that this, the sooner companies will respond and release a complete game.

Remember the days when completed games were released? Those days are long gone.

I wish everyone would realize that making games take MONEY, and how are you going to make money with out MAKING MORE CONTENT FOR THE GAME, AND I BET IF A GAME LIKE CALL OF SHIT WOULD GET THE SAME TREATMENT OF BATTLEFRONT EVERYONE WOULD STILL BUY THE GODAMN GAME, AND SUT BECAUSE EA DOESN’T NEED TO DO THIS DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE BESIDE YOU HAVE FAMILY’S TO FEED, AND TO CARE SO SHUT THE FUCK UP! THIS COMMENT SECTION IS NOTHING, BUT PURE CANCER, AND I AM FUCKING SICK OF IT!

They should do what 343i does with Halo 5, microtransactions and free DLC. They’ve gotten over 1.5 million dollars since the release. There is ways to make money other than cheating out gamers with ridiculous prices for content that should have been in the initial games.

I find the whole model disgusting – paying for ammo, paying for weapons, paying for content that obviously should have been part of the game in the first place. I’m just old and getting crotchety I suppose, and grew up in an era where development took forever, release dates were blown all the time, but developers made damn sure that the final packages were complete and worth the wait.

They only way I can forgive what this Battlefront is… is if somehow all the content from this game is a part of next years Battlefront. Like they can somehow salvage or repurpose this stuff to give us a more fully fleshed out game. Especially since it’s coming so soon after the first.
