The five-part animated comedy Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales is now on its way to DVD, featuring a slew of new and retold adventures from the Star Wars saga.

The synopsis for the miniseries reads as follows:

The fun begins following the victory celebration in the Ewok village on Endor, at the end of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. R2-D2 and C-3PO have gathered to regale Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca and the other Rebels with the tales of their adventures that led to the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. An accidental kidnapping occurs while the droids are reminiscing, and suddenly you’re taken on a new journey that leads to the retelling of the entire Star Wars saga, as told by R2-D2 and C-3PO! It’s hilarious and playful, packed with all your favorite interlocking characters. LEGO® STAR WARS™: DROID TALES is intergalactic thrills for the whole family!

The series itself retells the events of the Original and Prequel Trilogies in a comedic light, along with a droid-centric adaptation of the Star Wars Rebels episode “Droids In Distress”. This series seems charming; might have to pick it up and see what it’s all about.

It is. The best part really is the first episode as they take some good, really funny jabs at Episode I and II without being mean spirited.

Sees “hits DVDs tomorrow”, nearly has heart attack, learns it is just Droid Tales, is disappointed (though it is worth a watch).

All I want is all the episodes of the ’85 “Droids” cartoon on DVD.

Seriously? Where? I had them weeks ago from Amazon! They were sold in Spain earlier than the rest of the world, for a change?

This series was hilarious. But why do these things not get released on Blu-Ray? I haven’t purchased a DVD in years haha

For some silly reason, Disney AU decides to release this on 2-Discs even though it’ll easily fit on one.

seems funny, but why don’t they make a canon series for once?

Because they would have to sacrifice all of those insane LEGO gag moments.

Nah, just if they focus on a C-3P0 and R2-D2 series or an ewok one like the old now non-canon cartoon series they can keep those

Uh, no, but I’m sure they can do jokes canonically too

I know the show is for kids but it was very meta about itself which I enjoyed. My niece and I were laughing it but for very different reasons.

Love it, official Star Wars content that actively parodies itself. I’ll have to give this a watch.
