From Comic Book Resources:

Announced today at the annual ComicsPRO meeting, Marvel will publish a five-issue comic book adaptation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens written by Chuck Wendig with art from Luke Ross.

“The Force Awakens knocked our socks off from the very first time we saw it, and we could not wait to start being able to play with these new, awesome characters!” editor Jordan D. White told CBR. “Now, we get to bring all of them to the pages of our comics with an adaptation of the film we loved so much! We’re all fans first, so it’s all love that is bringing these pages to life!”

SWTFAC - Rey

SWTFAC - Finn

SWTFAC - Poe

The 5-issue series is slated to start in June of this year – not too long after the first issue of the ongoing series Poe Dameron arrives in April.

Writer Chuck Wendig previously worked with Archie Comics on their new version of their superhero The Shield together with Adam Christopher. He is no stranger to Star Wars either, having penned Star Wars: Aftermath with two sequels – Aftermath: Life Debt and Aftermath: Empire’s End – to follow. Artist Luke Ross is a Brazilian comic book illustrator who has worked for many comic book companies, including Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and Image. He worked on Spectacular Spider-Man, Captain America and the Mighty Avengers, Iron Man, and many more. He is the artist for the current Hercules series.

Hear me out for a minute, what if they take this comic and then make a movie with it? Almost like moving pictures!

Anyway If the art is good then I will bite.

The art designs look good. I’m sure the finished comic art will obliterate the wonderful clean inkwork with garish coulouring, as is the case with many comics today sadly.

So apparently Chuck Wendig is also writing Star Wars comics now, great, I can hardly contain my excitement… Reservations aside, he may be a better comic book author than book author. Lets hope that’s the case.

He’ll always be a prick though. Check his website for proof, For more laughs read the Amazon reviews of Aftermath too.

Was sold till I saw the name Wendig mentioned. I doubt Stephanie Meyer or E. L. James could do a worse job than him.
