Star Wars Rebels: Last 5 Episodes of Season 2 Summarized.

Rebels 10

The last five episodes of this season of Star Wars Rebels – which seem to collectively form a story arc regarding the search for a rebel base, the Inquisitors, and Ahsoka’s confrontation with Darth Vader – have just received descriptions.

From BroadwayWorld:

  • “Shroud of Darkness” – March 2nd: Kanan, Ezra and Ahsoka return to the Jedi Temple on Lothal, seeking answers from Yoda about the Inquisitors’ ability to continually track the rebels.
  • “The Forgotten Droid” – March 16th: When Chopper gets left behind at an Imperial outpost, he forms an unlikely friendship with an Imperial droid, and discovers a base location for the rebels.
  • “The Mystery of Chopper Base” – March 23rd: Kanan, Ezra and Ahsoka prepare to depart to unravel Vader’s secret, while the rebels find a way to fend off the predatory creatures that occupy the planet.
  • “Twilight of the Apprentice: Part I and II” – March 30th: After gaining information about the Sith, Kanan, Ezra and Ahsoka battle the Inquisitors with the help of a new ally, but are overmatched when Vader arrives.

Rebels 06

So from the sounds of things, the “new ally” in the last (double-length) is going to be none other than Darth Maul, as he doesn’t seem to fit into any of the other episodes described. Perhaps, then, the “Twilight of the Apprentice” is not referring to the last stand of Ahsoka Tano as many have been led to believe, but that of Darth Sidious’s first student. Let’s face it, a Darth Maul/Darth Vader confrontation is something we’d all love to see, and there’s still a lot of potential to take Ahsoka’s story in different directions in the next season (and even the one to three seasons planned to come out after that).

I still think the title refers to Ezra going to the dark side (as Maul’s apprentice) or at least leaving the Jedi path or joining whatever Maul represents now.
Vader isn’t supposed to kill Ahsoka anyway since the Emperor wants her captured in case she knows something about other remaining Jedi like Obi-Wan, and I agree that she has a lot of potential, it would be a total waste to have her on the series for only 1 season. The same goes for Maul: I don’t think they are bringing him back for only one episode.
Other things that may happen: we clearly see Ketsu Onyo’s ship (the Shadowcaster) on the season 2.5 trailer so we can assume she’s coming back; in The Mystery of Chopper Base we’ll see Sabine shooting those spider-like creatures from the EU (forgot their names) from the trailer; I wonder if the Imperial astromech is the one we saw in the last episode closing the blast doors to trap the rebels…; the inquisitors may be killed by the old Jedi Temple guards as seen in the trailer; I’m concerned about Rex’s fate since Sabine yells his name in the trailer and someone has to die…

Are you sure? That would be really cool and even more pay-off from the previous episodes! They probably repainted it.

Chopper is named after his designation, C1-10P (which resembles the word “Chop”, hence the nickname). Though you might be onto something with there being some sort of tie to the Clones…

    My thoughts:

Seems like only a few episodes to fit in the rest of that stuff from the Season 2.5 trailer. Maul, Vader, a new Inquisitor, Spider-looking things, Yoda, Sith temple/holocron, Jedi Temple Guards, Ezra’s turn/cross guard lightsaber, etc. Maybe they should have given some of THAT stuff more breathing room instead of creating 5 filler episodes.

Maul better not be that “unlikely ally”. He needs to be EVIL!

I hate Chopper. Stop giving him episodes. Or screen time.

Going back to Lothal again. Yaaaaaaay -__-

Perhaps Darth Maul will convince Ezra to help him assassinate the Emperor. Maul may say they have to do it for the good of the galaxy. Of course, Maul’s only real reason would be REVENGE! In the attempt, the Emperor kills Maul and captures Ezra in hopes of making him a new apprentice in season 3.

Darth Maul just can´t die :-)) he is immortal. NO matter what you do to him, he´ll survive :-))))) I already didn´t take seriously Clone Wars when realized he “survived”, now Rebels turns to be Clone Wars new seasons and the guy is still around…..what a joke. To me, he died on Naboo and the rest is, with the vords of the Maker, “that other Star Wars Universe” – the cartoon one, which I´ll never mix with the real deal, no matter how hard will Disney try to sell it with the “canon” stamp….. 🙂

You know. You’re quite alone on this one.

Sure, there have been some weird twists and turns with revelations in the Clone Wars. But keep in mind, most of this was hatched from the mind of Lucas, so it’s expected.

I’ve never researched to find confirmation, but my guess is bringing Maul back was Filoni, and while the resurrection was down right bizzarro, most of us couldn’t really complain after we saw how AWESOME the show treated the character and developed a story for him.

We finally got the Darth Maul we wanted in Episode I. Most of us dealt with his survival from being cut in half. He is, after all, a Sith Lord.

And him still being alive? Fantastic, considering his story arc finished on one of the best lightsaber fights ever and we never did find out what happened after wards.
