New Exclusive Clip and Images for Tonight’s Rebels Season 2 Finale!

REB_IA_15296

Rebels season 2 concludes tonight at 9pm EST on Disney XD and the hype for the finale couldn’t be greater among fans of the series. From the promotional material we have seen so far, “Twilight of the Apprentice” looks like it will have some serious ramifications for the series moving forward into next season.  Hit the jump for a special sneak peek at tonight’s episode!

Official Synopsis:

In the shocking season 2 finale of Star Wars Rebels, destinies will be forever changed and iconic characters will re-emerge in what will surely be the most talked about episode of the season. In the one-hour finale, Kanan, Ezra and Ahsoka seek out an Inquisitor to gain information about Vader, but soon encounter an unexpected ally in their fight against the Sith. When their search leads them to a confrontation with Vader (voiced by James Earl Jones), the three Jedi and their new ally must marshal all their strengths to survive.

Here’s a new promo clip from the finale!

The excitement from those who have already screened the episode, like Collider Jedi Council’s Tiffany Smith and Geek Bomb’s Maude Garrett is almost tangible through their reactions on social media. Also, Forbes‘ Luke Thompson had this to say in his reaction to the episode:

“I can tell you that this is probably the darkest episode of any Star Wars cartoon I’ve ever seen…and while the episode answers some questions, it also ends on a note of maddening ambiguity, assuring that it’ll be a long and impatient wait till season 3.”

This may be the biggest event in Star Wars animation yet. How amped are you for tonight’s finale?

You can watch this episode on Wednesday if you live in the US (@ 9pm EST), or on Saturday (@ 9am) if you’re in the UK on Disney XD.

Also check out these fantastic images from the finale. Although they are officially released by Disney, they still can be considered slightly spoilerific, so beware!

If it’s Umbara or Dathomir levels of dark it’ll be amazing to experience.

    Please don’t kill Ahsoka…

(But on the real, think it’s Maul that’s the ‘apprentice’ meeting his twilight, courtesy of the Artist Formerly Known as Anakin Skywalker – they’ll save Ahsoka DOA for next season)

They’re not going to bring Maul back, only to kill him immediately, again. Ahsoka is toast, and you know it.

Nope. They just brought her back to such fanfare this year they won’t kill her right off. She hasn’t even been in that many episodes. I think they don’t know what to do with both her and Kanan and if anyone is going to die it will be Kanan. But with Vader, Maul, 2 inquisitors, Ezra, Kanan and Ahsoka all heading into battle they better kill more than an inquisitor. They did that last year.

See – that’s where I’m going. And Maul isn’t really ‘sudden’ (if you were watching Clone Wars – he was a recurring character in 2 x seasons + there was barely a year between the end of TCW series and the 1st season of Rebels). Maul’s narrative (as carried from the last duel / defeat by Sidious / death of his brother Savage Oppress) had pretty much petered out – there’s JUST NOT much to do with him at this point; I mean, NOBODY saw him coming back from being chopped in friggin’ HALF, so at this point he’s on his third life (Ha! Timelord?). By contrast, it makes a lot less sense to kill off Ahsoka tonight, given the impact of her intro ‘all grown up’ last season and her minimal inclusion this season. Much more plausible to have a ‘this galaxy ain’t big enough for 2 x Sidious apprentices’ standoff w/ Vader, which Maul obvs loses…

I do see Ahsoka meeting her end before the end of Rebels, though. Totally. Whether it’s at the hands of dark-side Ezra or Vader remains to be seen!

I’m sorry, no, there are like 16 years between the end of clone wars and first season of Rebels. Really hard to take you seriously if you don’t know that.

Uh…no, d*****bag: Talking about screentime & the length of people-who-live-in-the-real-world-n-shit time, not the chronology of Star Wars. The comment was relative (now pay attention – this is where grade-school level reading comp comes in) to the amount of screentime we’ve had from Ahsoka / Maul, relative to the last seasons of TCW and these 1st 2 x seasons of Rebels. Get over yourself, you silly twat! I’m ELITE. I saw Star Wars the week it came out in ’77 – my cred is unassailable…

Nah they aren’t going to bring Maul back just to kill him off right away. But they need to get rid of the inquistors… there are way too many forces users around at this point in the time line. It should only be Ahsoka, Ezra and Vader… and maybe Maul depending on what they are going to do with him. Next season should include or be about destroying all the inquisitors.
We already know Kanan is no match for Vader so it is stupid if he keeps surviving. But Ahsoka may be a match for Vader and it would make more sense for her to last longer.

I wonder if Maul is going to tie into the founding of the Knights of Ren. He has a link with the Nightsisters and we know Asajj Ventress was able to return from the Darkside from Dark Disciple. Maybe Maul could be out to destroy both Sith and Jedi now. Can’t wait!

I am not looking forward to the death of a beloved character. I truly hope that Ahsoka, Kanan and Ezra will make it out of this episode alive. I know for good story telling that one of our heroes will have to be sacrificed. I can handle Ezra going dark and Kanan and Ahsoka will live to see another day, but most likely that Ahsoka or Kanan will perish. The twist will be Kanan’s death, since everyone assumes it will be Ahsoka who will not make it. I know it will not be Ezra, since Star Wars Rebels is told through his eyes.

They wouldn’t reintroduce a character just to kill him off straightaway. Ezra has been toying with the dark side, and it would be cool if Kanan was captured and Maul ‘filled in the gap’ on the team.

Kanan had better die. They need to start thinning the heard. Honestly, I wonder if Dave regrets the characters. They should just follow Rex, Ahsoka, Ezra and Sabine (only make her better and less “cool”), and the Chopper we saw in the episode 2 weeks ago. And also keep the droid Chopper befriended. Then, have a former bounty hunter and a rogue join the crew, I guess you can keep Hera, and send the big ogre (forget his name) to live on that secret planet he found with his people. AND have an imperial defect and join them… seems to be where they are going with Agent Callus. That could be good drama.

Kanan doesn’t need to die, Sabine does. She is an unnecessary, underdeveloped character who doesn’t really serve any purpose. Her characteristics could easily be merged with those of Hera.

    1. Maul is going down. He’s not in the OT, so they have to clean him up. This will be the perfect time to do it.
    2. Kanan or Ahsoka are not going to make it. My vote is on Kanan.
    3. Ezra will be heavily tempted by the dark side but will see a weakness in Maul that keeps him ‘good’.
    4. One other good character is gone – Hera, Zeb, Sabine, Chopper, etc. The whole point in the “filler episodes” about specific characters was to see which ones stuck with the audience, and then kill off the one that doesn’t stick well. It doesn’t make much sense to kill off Chopper unless he falls into a pit of lava or gets sucked into a black hole (totally plausible by the way). Who else dies depends on whether it’s Kanan or Ahsoka from (1). They will keep the female/male character balance. If Kanan dies, my vote is on Sabine. If Ahsoka dies, my vote is on Zeb. Those two seemed to be the characters with the weakest backstory aside from Chopper.

I’m reading Dark Disciple and it isn’t too bad, I remember liking Katie Lucas’s episodes of TCW too so it would be cool if she started writing for Rebels too. Then again, I’m sure Dad would cut her off if she did considering his strained relationship with Disney.

Not to give anything away but what a final episode. started off a little slow but had a great ending. So much action. felt like watching a full length movie. Hopefully season 3 will be better than 2 as we have crazy stuff to look forward to.

I really think they will be able to link season 3 into Rouge One and end the series after that.
