Considering the amount of my Verizon bill each month, I think they can afford to make an expensive commercial.

Don’t listen to them. It is in the movie. Han, Finn, and Rey are stuck in a trash compactor, the walls are closing in, they’re about to get crushed. BB-8 and Chewie have to stop this from happening so their buddies can join them in the sequel.

I don’t know why all this irony. It’s clear that the script won’t be a carbon copy of A New Hope, yet you have a droid in a desert, with an important mission, a Skywalker who finds it in that same desert. A new Death Star… Having Chewie and a droid operating at Starkiller is perfectly possible.

I was just having some fun. But seriously, during the assault of Starkiller Base, BB-8 is with Poe in his X-Wing, we see this in the trailers.

      Familiar, but different.

Bear in mind that ^^ actually looks 50% like the prison bay, so it’s probable that there are more generic hallways elsewhere on Kylo’s ship.

        http://www.dvdactive.com/images/editorial/screenshot/2011/9/cellblockbd.jpg

That said, this commercial is clearly by a different director, looks and feels like a commercial, that and the lighting is very OT, so I think it’s a stock set. But still, the TFA photo I think is the Prison Bay, or somewhere close to it.

Well if you look at the one photo of General Hux you can see that that is just how the whole structure looks. Whether its Starkiller Base or a Star Destroyer. Someone suggested that the commercial was probably shot on a Rogue One set which makes more sense.

I concur, the console booth and the Star Destroyer windows have design elements that are cleary ESB and ROJ style. But frankly, for Rogue One I would (still) hope for design elements and style closer to ANH (i.e. more little light domes and less light slots).

Rogue One is shooting right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just brought some FO stormtroopers on set to shoot this cute little TV spot.

That’s a really good point. I really dig the look of the new structure, idk if its a Star Destroyer or Starkiller base. I would assume it’s a Star Destroyer but idk. Its consistent with what we’ve seen so far since it is very familiar but also updated and a bit sleeker.

        • November 16, 2015 at 11:33 am
          Permalink

I’d assume the same judging by the Star Destroyer windows on the right near the end of the commercial, but – now – since these are also featured as standard windows (facepalm) of the Imperial facility on the moon of Endor in Star Wars Battlefront and in Rebels on Lothal, it could mean anything.
