These lists can be hit or miss, but this one is spot-on in terms of the order.

But can I just say how lucky we are as Star Wars fans to have both Ben Burtt and John Williams back for Episode VII? I mean, without their contributions of crafting that iconic sound pallet, we just wouldn’t have Star Wars.

Sound effect – in a top 10 – with all of Star Wars to pick from.

Needs categories, because a lot of this stuff is apples and gorillas; there is no comparing these things as if they’re the same.

It should be divided thus so:
Mechanical sound effects [Lightsabers, Podracers, Ship engine, etc.]

    Electro-vocal [Droids, Vader-voice]

Elemental / Explosive [crashes, explosions, sith-lightning]

    and Creature

Just saying, trying to put all that in one, single list is an exercise in futility.

PS. I don’t care how many people hate that scene, the Podracers had great sound-work. Totally belongs on this list.

The deployment of the Imperial Probe Droid in ESB, all lightsaber effects, pod racer sounds, the failing hyperdrive in the Falcon (ESB again), Geonosis arena beasts, Vaders mechanical breathing… oh, and Han’s totured screams in (wait for it…) ESB – although not really an “effect” I still wonder at whether Harrison let rip himself? – R2D2’s whistled conversations on Dagobah, Slave 1’s rapid fire laser attack on Obi-Wan in AOTC and subsequent seismic charges detonating…

God that seismic charge from attack of the clones has to be one of my favorites and I’m glad it was on there..it sounds so powerful!

Actually you’re right, that is a pretty sweet sound, I have to say, Ben Burtt sure didn’t slack around.

The hyperspace jump should have been on the list, It’s not used that often but it is memorable and in most of the films. I would have substituted that with the podrace engines which we only see in one film.

    Some more memorable sounds:
-Laser impacts on Gungan shields used in the battle of Naboo
    -Tusken raider’s growl and grunts
    -LAAT/i’s (Republic attack gunship) sounds
    -X-wings engine sounds
    -Slave 1 engine and blasters
    -Lambda class T4a shuttle sound
-Millenium Falcon sounds (engine, hiper drive, quad laser cannons, etc.)
    -Echo Base Ion Cannon
    -AT-AT’s walking sounds

And a honorable mention from the new Battlefront game tha should be implemented in movies ASASP:
    -Blaster shoot echoes
    -Thermal detonator explotion (wow!)
