“Emperor deceived them”? errm.. not really. they were programmed to kill the jedi since earliest stages of their development, I don’t see any deception here

Just one of the many things from this series that doesn’t fit well with the rest of the saga.

You said: “Filoni writes bad fan fiction IMO”

Clone Wars: Filoni is credited as the supervising director and has directing credits for a couple of episodes with co-writing credits for just one episode, the final episode of season 1. He probably had a lot to do with the overall story in the show, along with the executive producers, one of which was George himself.

The arc in season 6 that deals with order 66 and the clone programming was all written by Katie Lucas, George’s daughter.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Star_Wars:_The_Clone_Wars_episodes

Rebels: Filoni is one of the executive producers and for Season 1 and the Siege of Lothal, he does not have a writing credit for any of the episodes. Like with Clone Wars he does most likely have a lot to do with the overall story in the show.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Rebels#Episodes

This is typical of a TV series, multiple writers and directors share the load. If there was only one, they probably wouldn’t have time to finish the writing for an entire season before the season has to air.

Now, as far as the “chip” not fitting with the rest of the saga, I don’t see where it contradicts the saga. The details of how the programming was done by the Kaminoans was not discussed in the saga, so its hard for an explanation of a portion of that programming to contradict something that isn’t there.

Here’s another point: we are all very tired of the Prequel/ TCW/ Rebels bashing. If it annoys you so much, go find another franchise. IMO, it has never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan. Whine on, crybabies, whine on. I will sip my wine and enjoy the shows.

They probably couldn’t fit the whole explanation into the time they had allotted for this video.

I do get that, but at the same time its plainly obvious that this unfortunate use of words is just Disney trying to make biologically programmed killing machines (which clones were) a group of Jedi allies lured by old Sheev to rebel against their friends, in order to fit them better into, imo already extremely loose ended, narrational fabric and canonicity of children show that SW Rebels is.

Dude DisneyXD is a channel for children, and there really isn’t that much of a difference from being programmed to do something not natural to being “deceived” this should not be a big deal

I’m getting tired of this “it’s just for kids” excuse. A show that depicts the early development of the rebel alliance (which is a very important time in the star wars canon) should have been something epic for all ages; not this Saturday morning cartoon crap. They done f*cked up.

Watch the clone wars lost missions (season 6). The arc having to do with the programming for order 66 made it fairly clear the clones did not know about it until it was triggered by palpatine issuing the order, except in the one clone who had the malfunction.

As far as they knew they were bred to serve the republic under the command of the Jedi.

Following on the Lost Missions trail, ARC trooper Fives had his biochip removed, and became a huge threat to the Order 66 scenario, as he could not be “controlled” any longer – Palpatine turned the Jedi and the Republic military against him and he was killed because he knew too much.
Forward now to the 3 clones in Rebels Season 2 – if you look at Rex’s head, you will see a small scar, in the same place that Fives had a scar after he removed his biochip. Seeing as Rex was devastated at the killing of Fives, especially considering the claims he was making about the biochips in their heads, it makes sense that Rex (and maybe others) decided at some point prior to Order 66 to remove the biochips and possibly desert the military to avoid being caught up in Palpatine’s scheme. What better place to disappear to than this out of the way desert planet….

So how many clones became stormtroopers?

    • October 13, 2015 at 12:16 am
      Permalink

I’m sure a couple of them stay in services. In the Ultimate Star Wars book, it does state that some are kept around in the years after the the events in ROTJ. I can see how many would be decommissioned/phased out over time due to their rapid acceleration growth (particularly those that fought in the Clone Wars as they get “over the hill” sooner after that time.

All of them. When Palpatine started the Empire, they were renamed Imperial Stormtroopers. The first generation of Stormtroopers were all clones.

In the old canon, yes. In the new canon, many were relegated to positions of menial labor – although there are still some Clone Troopers in the Imperial military.

As it stands, the last of the Clone Troopers would be dead by the events of The Force Awakens due to their rapid aging. Boba Fett could still be alive if he escaped the Sarlaac, given that he was unaltered.

In the Lords of the Sith novel one of the red armored imperial guards protecting Emperor Palpatine is a former clone trooper. The story is set 8 years after Revenge of the Sith.

Nice. It would be cool to see some old rogue clones between ROTJ and TFA. Working as mercs and guns for hire

They age twice as fast as human making them senior citizen aged by ANH. It’s safe to say they none of them in the OT were clones purely do their different voices and heights.

Thanks. That makes sense so what did all the clones do. Just die off and retire and go on vacation lol that would be interesting to see

Anytime. Part of my beef with GL and the PT is that unless you were an EU geek like me, That would totally go by people’s heads. Should have been in the films. The idea of retired ones is a great book/comic idea but I have a feeling they knew too much and Sidious killed every one of them. Though a story about them being hunted is a pretty cool idea.

Good idea. I can’t not see Finn being the new Han what with him being in the Falcon cockpit and having a checkered past. In the OT we got a drug smuggler, In this one we get a former Stormtrooper.

Yes I think Finn is going to be the new han to Rey as being like Luke and Poe as leia like leading the rebel alliance .

it never will happen cause it would confuse a lot of people not who don’t watch clone wars/rebels but it would be kinda cool if they get a bald bearded and aged up Temuera Morrison back as Rex in Star Wars Rogue One

: So now clones are bigger allies to the jedi than to the chancellor…

They were supposed to have been bred for killing (and dying), dumbed down to be less independent and totally obedient(no chips) I mean if they are just regular humans as it`s turning out (“not clones sir, MEN!”) , what`s with the morality of breeding humans and brainwashing, making them age faster, and just being okay with them dying, only because the republic needs something better than droids…

Gregor was a commando which is totally different and they are more independent thinking as they had to be on their own alone a lot. Wasn’t Rex and Wolffe ARC too? Those are also special cases. What you said is true for the generic shinies though.
