Star Wars: The Force Awakens Stuntwoman Critically Injured In Accident on the Resident Evil Set

Olivia Jackson

Our best thoughts go out to British stuntwoman Olivia Jackson, who is currently in a coma following a mishap during the filming of the new Resident Evil film. Read on for details…

Olivia Jackson, who had previously performed stunts for The Force Awakens, was seriously hurt this past Saturday in a motorcycle crash on the set of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. According to The Guardian, she is currently in a medically-induced coma.

A source who was on the film set at the time of the crash told the Sun Jackson had “no chance” when the camera failed to move out of her way during the scene.

“It was a very dangerous stunt. She was riding a motorbike in a straight line but due to the scene she had no protective gear or helmet,” the source said. “There is a metal arm which carries the camera along. But it malfunctioned and didn’t lift up. It was totally out of her control.”

Please join all of us here at Star Wars Episode VII News in wishing Olivia a full and speedy recovery, despite the severity of her injuries. We hope to have some positive news to update you all with soon.

May the Force be with you, Olivia!

Misleading article title. Lame comment section that discourages me from clicking on articles (Which decreases your ad revenue brilliant move). Because face it, most articles on this site are just not really that interesting or relevant, the comments were the only thing that made me and many others click on them. Sure they might have been a little troll infested but does it impact your real physical life at all? Yes actually, more clicks = more money.

I accept your decision to change the comments but I am pretty damn confused? Are civilized words more important than money? And maybe the comments would be so trollish if the articles posted were actually of interest and relevance and not just pointlessly grasping at straws like they always are.

Star Wars 7 news= once the best online Star Wars site, nerd admins let the prosperity go to their head, site is boring now. Give me Jason Wards unfounded bullshit over this PC crap, at least he’s interesting.

      Settle down there, Sparky.

First and foremost, this is a performer who worked on TFA and who just suffered a life-threatening injury while making another picture. Of course we’re going to post something about it and send our good wishes her way. You can make all the cheap “click bait” accusations you want, it doesn’t make you any less off-base with your claims about why we posted this.

The way you’re olling this into a rant about the new comments system, it looks to me like you’re basically just in the mood to pick a fight. Sorry if you’ve got a problem with the new comments setup, but it’s a change that we’ve been looking to make for awhile now. Because yes, there was a serious and ongoing problem with people hiding behind the Anonymous option for the sake of trolling the comments sections in article after article. And if you’ve been a regular here, you know damned good and well that the trolling in question wasn’t about people being bored with our article topics.

If not being constantly inundated by bigoted idiocy on this site somehow detracts from your experience as a Star Wars fan, then you’re free to move along.

I don’t like how he twisted and skewed the story to rant about the comment section. I mean, a woman is in a coma, and he’s complaining about the comment section?

Lol, you actually LIKED the old comments where people were obnoxiously racist/sexist/bigoted? I’m really enjoying the new comments section. The old comments were really noisy and full of the same mindless BS in every single thread. I found myself skipping the comments section most days.

Whereas it’s your preference vs. mine (and I won’t pretend that mine is any more important than yours), I guess I’m just surprised that anyone but the trolls would prefer the old method of commenting to this one. Not to imply that you were/are one of the trolls, mind you. I’m just expressing surprise.

And, my two cents on the “misleading article title”: while the title of this article was worded a bit confusingly, I feel that they (SW7N writers) generally do a good job of providing a relevant titles. If they wait to divulge the full story until after the jump, at least it’s not, “25 most gruesome Star Wars Injuries on set: #17 will shock you!!”

Don’t worry. As a colorless person of the privileged gender I’ll fill in all the racism, sexism and biggotry you need.

You think going away from anonymous comments will reduce the number of hits this site receives? Keep dreaming. Commenters are only a small fraction of the number of people who visit this site.

If anything, more people will begin interacting with this community, since trolls won’t have the refuge of anonymity.

Shallow “fans” who want to spend their time hating on TFA for not being “white enough” or “manly enough” can go elsewhere, as far as I’m concerned (and I am a white guy from Kentucky).

It’s not “PC crap” to recognize that non-white, non-men are in this world, too, and deserve as much representation on the big screen as Caucasian men. It’s not “PC crap” to be disgusted by folks who are trapped in an outdated, hateful mindset, where all they see is skin tone or gender.

Why do you think trolls care about anonymity?

        • September 11, 2015 at 9:18 am
          Permalink

I may be a feminist dweeb, but I’m not hateful. You are a spiteful coward, terrified that you (and other white males by extension) lack the self-worth to compete in an open playing field.

Well, sorry, but I’m not afraid of that.

Also, “continents” don’t make movies. Nations, I could give you, though really they are made by companies. But you know what? America is special because we are a melting pot. We always have been. One hundred years ago, people were whining about the Irish and Italians the EXACT same way you are whining now. One hundred years before that, Ben Franklin himself was whining about Germans the EXACT same way you are whining now.

He was wrong. They were wrong. YOU are wrong.

The time for shallow hate and fear of the other is over. Either you can accept that and learn to love others because of their differences, or you can grow old, bitter and afraid until your time is done. Your call.

For me, I choose to deny fear. I choose to embrace life. But you can be a cowardly bigot and hatemonger all you want. Have fun with it.

In the interest of clarity, the title has been changed since this post. It was something along the lines of “Star Wars the Force Awakens stuntwoman critically Injured in on-set accident” or some such.

So… Let’s see if I get this. First you complain that the new comment section would reduce their revenue. Then you complain that they are just posting articles to get money. Do I have that correct?

I misunderstood the headline initially, but that does not make the accident any less tragic – I wish her a speedy recovery.

Also, what’s with the hatred for the new comments section? Is it because the trolls and bigots can’t get through under the veil of anonimity anymore?

I have been coming to this site at least daily for the better part of a year but had probably commented five or six times total. Comments section for the most part seemed like an immature free-for-all and I didn’t want any part of it. Probably not a matter of an inability to handle it. Similar to my coworker blaring metal in the cube next to me – just because I can handle it doesn’t mean I want to be around it.

That’s awful, and the fact she was not wearing any kind of helmet makes me fear the worst. I’ve seen helmeted stunt riders replaced in post with digital actors to appear with no helmet so it’s seems strange a dangerous bike stunt would be done that way. I hope she makes it through but when you see things like the death of Jules Bianchi and the severe head injury to Michael Schumacher both wearing the right protective gear and put into medical induced comas, I think it will be a very long road back if she makes it at all.
