Rumor: Has Aaron Paul Already Signed for One of the Upcoming Star Wars Anthology Movies?

Aaron PaulFor some time now Aaron Paul has been rumored to appear in one of the upcoming Star Wars Anthology movies. Yesterday the Breaking Bad star posted a very curious message on Twitter. Is he the latest addition to the galaxy far, far away?

First, here is a quick recap with the rumors surrounding Aaron Paul and his possible involvement with Star Wars:

  • Back in December 2014, MakingStarWars reported that the first Anthology movie will be about Han Solo, and that Aaron Paul will be attached in some fashion (HERE).
  • Just a few days after this report, Paul himself expressed his surprise for the rumor (HERE).
  • In February 2015, TheHollywoodReporter revealed that Aaron Paul is still in the interest list for the first Anthology movie, now announced to be titled Rogue One (HERE).

As you can see there is small mismatch between the reports above, since the first Anthology movie is not about Han Solo. Still this doesn’t mean that both reports are wrong.

Yesterday, just a few hours after the official announcement on the Han Solo Anthology movie, Aaron Paul posted the following on Twitter and Instagram:

My dreams are coming true. #StarWars

I believe there’s a reason why the official Star Wars site followed him. They did something similar with other stars after they joined the production. But was that timing a coincidence? Could Aaron Paul be attached to the second Anthology movie about Han Solo?

Keep in mind that even if he does get a part in the Han Solo Anthology movie, he is most definitely not playing Han Solo himself. Paul (36) is too old for playing young Solo, and his physical appearance is very different from Harrison Ford’s early years. Of course when you re-cast a certain character, it’s not necessary to find a complete double of the actor, but there have to be at least few similarities between them.

Aaron Paul is great actor and I think he would be great addition to the Star Wars franchise.

So what do you think? Will we see Aaron Paul in Rogue One or in Han Solo? Or is all this just a crazy coincidence?

NOTE: The title image is from Jason Reitman’s one-night only live reading of The Empire Strikes Back at the Los Angeles’ Ace Hotel from last year, where Aaron Paul played the role of Luke Skywalker.

He won’t be playing Solo on screen. Besides the obvious, he’s also too short to be a goalie!

Yea he won’t be. Not even close to a match. But I do think Bryan Cranston would have been a much better choice for his acting skills. I could see Cranston playing a high ranking officer in the empire. Perfect

It’s certainly going to be a challenge finding and actor who is not immediately recognizable worthy enough to play Solo. There would be no justification in an already-famed actor being granted the role. What would be the point of making an anthology Star Wars film if the audience is distracted with that lead actor the whole time?

I agree, hes probably not the man to play Solo, but he will add gravitas to any role he plays within the Star Wars world.

The jury is out on who should play Han, for me, one of the best examples of a new actor playing an older or in this case dead actor is Micheal Sheen playing Brian Clough in the film The Damned United. He took him off so well and you really felt he was Brian Clough!

So there needs to be an element of impressionism definently! – Ewan Mc Gregor did well as Obi Wan (the director will cast someone who has Harrsions swagger, height, looks and can pull off some of the classic lines and looks.

Im not worrying too much they know how important this is – Disney are too clever to balls up this appointment.

Jesus I cant wait for Ep7 – always been a Luke fan since I was a kid (born in 77)cant wait to see him in action again – and the thought of him having to tap into a little darkside possibly in order to defeat Kylo Ren – maybe in his isolation he has studied all sides of the force “not just the dogmatic narrow minded view of the jedi”

I think Sideous still has a role to play aswell. Did he not imply he may have learnt the power to cheat death in Ep3, so by Ep6 surely he has nailed it……….

If Obi Wan becomes more powerful after Vader took him out – I would not be surprised if Sideous conscious or force is stil present …. possibly until he regains physical form I don’t know – but the guessing games are great!

I ve always heard Siths werenn’t able to live through the Force. The Jedi are dead but their mind is enough strong for not being dissolved in the Force as common people is.

try not to get your hopes up too much for Luke in ep7. It’s not… luking good re. seeing him in action.

The Sith cannot live as Force Ghosts. The key was to live forever in their own bodies. Of course both Plagieous and Sidious are dead so that’s that for them. The problem with the Jedi order wasn’t their views it was they abandoned their ideals for war mongering. The moment they took the title of General in the Republic Army they lost.

May I extend a preemptory “Cool yer jets!” at this point? Aaron Paul is not going to be Han Solo. It would make no logical sense whatsoever. First of all, he’s too old to play a young Han. Second of all, he’s a completely different look and type. They’d no sooner cast Aaron Paul as Han Solo as they’d cast Edward Norton or Paul Giamatti as Han Solo.

However, I do think that Paul would be a great addition to the SW universe, especially as some sort of slicer/scam artist type. He’s got that thing of being able to be likable while playing a shady, fringe-dwelling character, which IMHO is perfect for Star Wars.

But as Han? Not gonna happen.

I’m actually expecting the recasting of Han Solo to flop pretty badly, to be honest. That character is tied so closely to Harrison Ford that I really can’t see anyone else being able to pull it off. Certainly none of the names I’ve seen floated as possible casting choices.

But Aaron Paul is at least one actor that I don’t think we have to worry about being given the role. ;^)

And yet, mention the name Aaron Paul and immediately people assume he’s up for the Solo role because of some weird little rumor from a year or so ago.

    Aaron Paul’s a great actor.

Shame he wasn’t cast in TFA instead of Boyega.

But diversity and inclusion trumps all these days, and almost every single one of these new actors were cast either because of their gender or race.

Sorry you feel that way. As a lifelong SW fan who just so happens to be a white guy from the South, I think it’s great to give kids of all races heroes that reflect themselves.

It’s not affirmative action; it’s recognizing that not everyone in the world looks the same.

If you think something is wrong about that, well frankly, your priorities are skewed.
