Star Wars Weekends are back. Hosted by James Arnold Tylor (the voice of Obi-Wan from The Clone Wars), the festival is held annually at the Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park of the Walt Disney World Resort. The event occurs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for four consecutive weekends in May and June and features appearances by cast and crew members from the Star Wars franchise. Check out a recap of the first weekend after the jump…

The most interesting guests for the first weekend were Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine), Amy Allen (Aayla Secura), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) and Tiya Sircar (Sabine Wren from Rebels).

How many more SW weekends are there? Also, any chance these weekends will show us new material?

Back in June 2004 I went to SW weekends for the first time and we saw a sneak peek at General Grevious about a year before the movie’s release. The weekends went on pretty much all summer

It’s mind-blowing how Grievous’ concept drawings didn’t translate into an amazing sub-villain. -_-

Grievous would have been really cool if they adopted the version shown in The Clone Wars, prior to his lungs getting crushed and having that stupid cough. Also they should have made him more menacing and not run away in every scene he’s in.

Last year we got a look at Rebels that wasn’t shown anywhere else. The fact that Celebration happened just last month, I can’t see them showing much more.

It sucks Amy Allen hasn’t even watched return of the jedi.. you’d expect actors to get into the movies they are in by at least watching the fucking movies.

Amy Allen was just a Jedi extra with a name, which is the equivalent of her hearing about Star Wars through pop culture.

You don’t need to watch the films to stand around in the background and prematurely fall down.

I for sure thought they were going to show Kylo Ren. For the character finale.

I don’t wanna sound like an asshole, but would it be sooo difficult to give the actors some basic sword-fighting training. It would make the show so much better and give it a more authentic flow. This way it looks like a couple of “Star-Wars-Kids”…
