UPDATE! Rumor: Daniel Craig and Simon Pegg to Cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens?
Simon Pegg just let a bit of information slip out – that Daniel Craig will be making a cameo in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. But fans of the James Bond actor might not want to get too excited – his face will apparently be hidden behind a Stormtrooper helmet.
From Irish Examiner:
Speaking at the premiere of Man Up in London, Pegg revealed the role that Craig took on. He said, “I wasn’t a Stormtrooper. Daniel Craig, he was a Stormtrooper.” Of course, he quickly realised his mistake and added, “I shouldn’t have said that.”
Pegg has been long-rumoured to appear in the upcoming film. But his identity, for the moment, is a secret. Perhaps he is trying to misdirect people, but it seems likely that Craig will fill the boots of a Stormtrooper.
An inside source has said, “Daniel asked for some sort of secret cameo role – and was happy to have his name left off the posters. Fans will love trying to work out which covered up character is him.” Perhaps he’ll be the best dressed Stormtrooper…or the one that can actually hit a target!
While it’s been no secret that Daniel Craig visited the set of The Force Awakens, few considered that he could possibly make a cameo in the film – after all, Pinewood Studios is also where many James Bond movies have been filmed, and that production of this year’s Spectre was also underway while Bad Robot, Disney, and Lucasfilm were hard at work at the latest Star Wars movie. But now it looks as though Craig may very well be in The Force Awakens after all, albeit in a bit part.
As for Simon Pegg? He’s essentially confirmed that he will make a cameo, although he’s been coy about being involved with the film until now. Pegg mentioned that he thinks that audiences would be distracted by seeing his face in the movie, so it’s likely that any role he would have is going to be extensive on the visual effects side. On a little more of the side of potential spoilers (read the next sentence at your own risk), The Cantina member King3000 suggested that he’s set to appear in the “Pirate Cove” sequence as an alien who pesters Rey, and gets an arm pulled out of his socket by Chewbacca as a result (potential spoilers end here). Given the recent confirmation of several details he described via the recent Vanity Fair article, there is a good chance that he is on the right track here as well.

UPDATE!
According to Collider, it looks as though Simon Pegg wasn’t exactly 100% certain that Daniel Craig filmed a cameo after all.
We reached out to Pegg and he provided us with the following statement, somewhat clarifying his comments: “Why is everyone leaping on this? It was a rumour last summer, wasn’t it? I read it in the paper. It may be untrue, like most of the other rumours, like Cumberbatch and Cruise being in it.”
So according to Pegg, he was simply repeating a rumor he heard previously. If Craig is in the film as a Stormtrooper, it’s not like we’ll have visual confirmation of the cameo anyway (nor is he playing some super secret major role, like Darth Vader’s twin brother), so this is he/isn’t he debate is kind of moot.
King3000 interestingly mentioned that Benedict Cumberbatch had a cameo appearance in one of the scenes he described, so either Cumberbatch was filmed on a separate day than Simon Pegg’s cameo, or King3000’s source simply made a mistake. It’s also possible that Pegg may be trying to throw people off after slipping up, since he did notably mention that he said something he shouldn’t have. Not to mention that the source mentioned in Irish Examiner said that Daniel Craig wanted to film a cameo. In any case, take any rumors about Cumberbatch or Craig appearing in The Force Awakens with a grain of salt – but likewise, keep in mind that Pegg is the most likely out of any of them to have made a cameo in the film.

Doesn’t mean anything at all, does it really?
Inb4 ” omGz we d0onT waNt nO bIg staRz in starWars !! “
Seriously, if ur gonna talk about pirate cove and arms out of sockets put a potential spoiler alert on.
That part is not a major scene, but I’ll throw a spoiler alert in.
Please go away!
If people don’t want spoilers, why in God’s name come to a site that primarily deals in digging up spoilers? It’s like watching people go to a football game and bitching that they’ve been exposed to a touchdown.
You know who else is having a cameo in star wars? DEEZ NUTS!
*Always wanted to say that
Billy Deez Nutz Williams!

“It’s not Khan. That’s a myth. Everyone’s saying it is, but it’s not… I think people just want to have a scoop.” — Simon Pegg
can simon pegg suck any more air time out of this.. infact I heard he’s got a cameo as a mynock!!
Naturally, Simon Pegg is in it. Disney’s been recruiting nothing but Prequel-haters since October 2012.
Hopefully they filmed the scene in such a way that “in the know” audience members can figure out which scene he was in. Perhaps a trooper that makes JB signature hip firing move, or flirting with a girl.
I don’t know about you, but I’d love it if Roger Moore had a cameo role. He was on the set, too.
I hope Mark Hamill makes a cameo too 😉
He will get that cameo…. but that’s all he’s going to get.
So go away all you fans expecting a huge duel between Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren,
Jason is that you again?
Simon Pegg is in the movie FOR SURE. I am an AVID Editor and was sent a video from a Bad Robot seminar where the editors spoke about their editing process of TFA. One of the assistants accidentally let it slip that Pegg sent them ADR clips on a daily basis over his phone and there was this moment of silence like he wasnt supposed to say it. He’s in it.
i could definately see him playing an imperial officer. that would be cool
I’d pay good money to see Chewie rip Pegg’s head off and then take a big wookie dump down his neck
OR maybe king3000 is jj getting on here and trying to throw us off..
There will be a sequence filmed from the inside of barrel of a blaster. It focuses on a stormtrooper who suddenly turns to fire against the camera. Blood comes trickling down.
Then we’ll know that was Daniel Craig’s cameo.
In fact, according to Pegg we don’t know if Craig is in the movie only for a cameo or for something else.
I always tried to figure out, with no result to my dissapointment, how chewie hides his private parts. Is it very small or does it work way differently?
Meza thinks Pegg Plays the bones of Jar Jar on Jakku.
I’d like to see Simon Pegg impaled on the rib bone of Jar Jar. Or better yet, blow him up with a bomb.
Is there any actor left who doesn’t have a cameo in this film?!
Ok! So Cruise, Cumberbatch, Craig and Pegg are in TFA lol all we need is another slip of the tongue, Billie Dee! and our circle will be complete!
All we need now is Cate Blanchett and we’ve got the most overused actors.
