New Leaked Images of Kylo Ren from Kid’s Merchandise?

Kylo Ren

A poster on Reddit claims to have access to promo materials about some Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise. He also shared some low quality pics…

You can see the 2 images in our message boards HERE.

And here’s what the poster said about the 2 images (via Cantina member tyke):

on the first picture he said:

The puzzle is from my father’s coworker. My father has allowed me to leak this picture as long as i do not give any information of the company as this was straight from disney’s style guide on star wars toys/puzzle.

on the second picture he said:

The second image i have submitted, from a star wars game style guide from disney. This IS and OFFICIAL style guide directly from disney, however i cannot disclose the company/names that are working on this.

Q: Just to clarify, what do you mean by “game style guide”?

A: A style guide is a guide a large company gives you (disney) to style toy packaging after you buy a license to make the game. They give you images to use on the packaging as long as you agree not to release the information before the movie itself (or whatever release date you have from the company)

TL;DR: a style guide is basically a few images/format for toy packaging sold to toy companies as long as the images are not released to the public. (oops)

Looks a hell of a lot better than Darth Maul

I thought Maul looked cool… he just was wasted in the PT. Kind of like Boba in the OT.

No! Atleast for me, Darth Maul is the second best SW movie villain along with Darth Vader. Sure, Kylo looks pretty damn good but he is not among these two, not just yet anyway.

P.S. As a fan I am greatly disappointed of portrayal of Tyrannus and Grevious in the movies.

I like Tyranus because he doen’t look like he’s typically evil like Maul. If I faced Maul I would just smirk. Then he would cut me in half, granted. But I would have the last laugh.

I have to agree, Dookuu is more political feeling than Maul.

Maul is like, a sith marauder… a warrior born in blood.

Dooku is a thinker, more like an inquisitor…

Although their skills are swapped in terms of Swtor classes XD

Not that I’d know because he appeared ten minutes of the actual films TOTAL. They only really gave him time to give ultimatums and cape around [CAPE – caping, caped: v, the act of wearing a cape, usually also bearing a classic grandiose composure, example “The main deck is a great place to CAPE about”]

They really did not give us a chance to actually SEE his true character.
Sure, Darth Vader was pretty composed, but he had a solid enigma / alias to work with. Darth Vader is the terrifying agent of the empire’s will who will spare none to get the job done.
As for Dooku, I have no friggin’ clue what Obiwan thinks he is, what he stands for, or what the Separatists think he is, let alone his true heart.
Greivous is ahead of him as a villain ’cause at least I understand what he’s supposed to be, the terrifying asshole droid-general.
I’m not sure what to make of Count Dooku other than he’s a particularly athletic octogenarian who is allegedly in charge of evil or something. I’m sure Clone Wars did more with the character, but he just wasn’t working for me in Ep II-III. Which sucks ’cause I love Christopher Lee, he’s a war-vet who has first-hand knowledge of what a person being stabbed looks like. And yet Lucas somehow managed to make him into a lame Star Wars villain.

I think Dooku was pretty much like what he was portrayed as in the movies, meaning fulfilling his role in the story exactly the way he was written without any more depth. But that goes for most PT characters.

Yeah, I totally agree. Darth Tyrannus (and I mean Tyrannus, not Dooku) simply doesn’t do justice to the Sith. And because of it I like Episode II least of all 6 movies. He never wears “Sith eyes” and in my opinion, he should have, atleast in his last moments when he discovers Sidious’s betrayal he should have gone in a flash of a desperate rage instead of whinny “Please don’t kill me, please..” expression.

The problem is, he was always Dooku and never Tyrannus in the movies really.

I really strongly suggest you all watch the clone wars. Honestly it is better than you would ever expect. I promise you. Dive in when it really gets good like the Ryloth episodes or start from the beginning. It took one season to get REALLY damn good but even the first season is better than the PT. I’m no PT hater, or lover. They had good moments and BAAAD ones. But it promise (and I’m a 31 year old man) the clone wars show is worth watching. And will make you have a better understanding of what Lucas wanted to do with the PT. There was just wayyy too much. Thus the reason for the show. Don’t buy into the hate for the clone wars you read. People who hate on it, probably watched one episode. Or just cause it’s associated with the PT and a “kids show” don’t give it a chance. It’s not just a kid show by any means. Especially the more it goes on. Watch it!

Sorry to disagree Pomojema but the pics are of such poor quality they barely qualify as images as opposed to a bunch of blurry pixels, that’s my point. We already have a good idea of what Kylo will look like from the previously leaked images. Don’t get me wrong, this site is really great and I understand that you have to keep posting articles to keep repeat business but if you are honest with yourself you have to admit that this is a bit weak.

Now I`ve seen a bigger picture of it up close. With the storm trooper at the side of it. And the recent trailer description of him inside an imperial shuttle being escorted by tie fighters. Its looking like he`s a darth vader type supreme commander. In a position to lead and command imperial forces. Now if there is a sith rule of two still being followed. Maybe kylo ren is the master, and captain phasma character is an apprentice possibly.

Kylo: “Why should I join you?”

Luke: “Well, first-off, I defeated you.”

          Kylo: “Not really”

Luke: “What do you mean you’re not defeated, YOUR ARM’S OFF”

Kylo: [looks at stump of where his arm used to be] “I’ve had worse!”

I`m not complaining or anything, and I know we get told over and over again don`t take this stuff to heart, and take it with a pinch of salt. But I have to admit I`m guilty of doing just that and totally believing it (mock me if you want). I believe it more than I should. It`s no ones fault other than my own for being so gullible. So I`m thinking when the new 2nd teaser trailer comes out shortly. If any of the recent trailer description, or leaked concept photos and spoilers turn out to be total bullsh** lies same as these photos. I`m gonna go completely cold turkey on anything to do with star wars for like 9 months, until 1 hour before I sit down in the cinema to watch it. It ain`t worth getting hyped up about and wasting time. This would be admitting defeat also as its the desired effect the misinformation people want to achieve.

Now if it turns out to be true, I`ll totally believe every last thing thereafter and have total trust.

Just post them on the main article and if people want to discuss the pics further then they can do that in the Cantina. Even if you follow the link you still have to log in to click on the pictures to make them bigger. I think the forum should support the website not the other way around.

Kylo Ren looks bad ass A++++++++++++++++++ ty JJ & co!

  • April 9, 2015 at 5:06 am
    Permalink

Is anyone getting the feeling that Kylo Ren is a spy or some kind of plant/double agent. Adam Driver was seen in rebel pilot garb. I wonder if THATS the flashback and it explains how he became a cyborg (injured in a crash long time ago) kind of like Vader in a way. Or he’s a very highly placed plant for the rebellion who’s totally got the Empire’s remnants fooled (see Donnie brasco).

If Adam driver is Ren, and he wears a full mask like that and it would alter his voice, it would be hard to get out as a spy, especially if he’s seen as only sith or the top sith in Imperial forces. This flick is shaping up to be quite complex if half of what we have heard about kylo Ren and Adam driver are true. Also, is it weird that Rey and Ren are such similar names…like Luke and leia even..just saying.

    • April 10, 2015 at 12:09 am
      Permalink

I support your theory, except the spying part.

It is more likely to me that instead of an accident, Ren was given a lesson, probably by (uncle) Luke after his nephew had turned to the dark side. Therefore Luke got estranged from Han / Leia, and chose to live in exile.

This could explain all the concept art of Ren: him holding her sister Rey, fetishizing his grandpa’s helmet, etc.

Of course the assumption here is that Rey and Ren are the children of Han and Leia.

      • April 10, 2015 at 7:05 pm
        Permalink

It makes sense that Ren and Rey are the children of Han and Leia, with Ren being the eldest. Adam Driver said it was about “siblings and parents, betrayal and trust”. So, Ren feels
betrayed, neglected/unloved, maybe? And is seduced by the dark side.

Just a thought (and I doubt it’s the case but here goes…) – What if Kylo Ren IS Revan or a descendant of Revan? This is a stretch, but a possibility nonetheless. Here are a few possibilities with a Revan connection:

    1. Revan went by the anagram “Avner” in the novel “The Old Republic: Revan” to hide his identity from the Mandalorians. “Ren” is not exactly an anagram but add a couple of letters and you do get Revan. And obviously, Kylo Ren’s attire is an uncanny resemblance of Revan’s own.

    2. If there is any biological connection with the actual Revan at all, it is more likely it is a descendant, given the 4000 year stretch. Again with the anagram – Revan’s own son was given a name that was an anagram of his father’s in honor of him – “Vaner”. Now this breaks down after him, as the names of Revan’s descendants don’t all follow this pattern, but it it still a possibility.

    3. The third possibility seems to be the most popular. Kylo Ren is a Sith enthusiast/collector/wannabe who has devoted himself, like Darth Bane before him, to the teachings of Darth Revan. He idolizes him to the point that he takes on his appearance. The name Ren may have significance in being similar to Revan or it may not. I think this is the most likely scenario if Revan is connected at all to this character.

    4. The fourth possibility is that Kylo Ren has no in-universe connection to Revan, but rather a stylistic one to honor the fan favorite character. This could just be an example of Lucasfilm “mining” legends material. Though I do hope that Revan will be canonized eventually.

All equally great points! The anagram ones may be a bit of a stretch. I can’t wait until it comes out!

Not sure if that is Kylo Ren, the mask is a variation of the stormtrooper mask and is chrome. I think that may be a really bad image of the rumoured Captain Phasma / Gwendoline Christie’s character the chrome trooper.
