Collider: New Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Trailer to be Shown at Celebration!

Teaser TrailerAs many have already predicted, the next trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is headed for Star Wars Celebration! Read more to see when the trailer will make it to theaters and more.

From Collider:

When will we see a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer? Mark May 1st on your calendars, if you haven’t already. We’re hearing that the new trailer for J.J. Abrams’ highly anticipated sequel is definitely attached to every copy of Avengers: Age of Ultron that will play in theaters, giving it a guaranteed massive audience. Of course, Disney owns both Marvel and Lucasfilm so this is was an obvious place for the next trailer to play (and at the beginning of the summer movie season, no less), but if there were any doubts, those can safely be put to rest.

Celebration starts on April 16 with an opening ceremony that will be simulcast across the convention (where this trailer will most likely premiere), while Avengers: Age Of Ultron hits theaters on April 22 in many international regions and May 1 in the United States. Lucasfilm/Disney will most likely upload the trailer shortly after it airs in order to ensure that it gets the maximum amount of coverage, as well as to prevent bootlegs between the short time period.

While this bit of news is probably not surprising to a lot of you, it is good to officially have confirmation of when and where the trailer is going to hit. I’ll be at Celebration along with a number of 1030th/Cantina members, so I’ll be sure to give you my impressions for each day!

Thanks, but I didn’t actually write those lyrics. It’s one of the songs from the infamous Galactic Dance-Off mode in Star Wars Kinect. It’s actually a pretty neat cover.

If I was JJ i’d still leave the big 3 out the trailer – or luke or han. every one will know they are in it and it would keep some mystery. very annoying i am sure, but would be interesting. pretty exciting – I hope i dont think the trailer is a spoof like i did for the first 4 seconds of the teaser.

I doubt that they’re gonna leave ’em out.

So does this mean we’ll all get to see it when it premiers at Celebration, or do we have to wait until we see Ultron? Or will it be uploaded somewhere between?

My guess is that it will pop up shortly after airing at Celebration on April 16 (as in, on the same day, a few minutes later). Trailers usually hit the web before the movies they are attached to hit the silver screen.

Makes sense. Avoids the theatre bootlegs.

If you were JJ you would leave the big three put and miss a huge marketing opportunity. Most people still get their movie updates when they actually see a trailer in a theater, and anyways intentionally not showing half your main cast is no way to market a film. They’re not interchangeable props or something.

You can’t seem to grasp how a thread structure works, let alone marketing.

This isn’t really an official announcement. I mean, it’s obvious that the trailer will be before Avengers, we’ve all been assuming that it’s also gonna be shown at Celebration. It looks like Collider also understood that those are two pretty safe assumptions and made a post about it that’s guaranteed to get hits. We’ve been seeing posts almost exactly like this for months except this one is reaally betting on it to be true.

As always, wait for Starwars.com to announce it, which is usually at the last minute.

      Absolutely.
Sorry, Pomojema, but can you explain in what the Collider news is an official confirmation?

The way that the article words the situation strongly suggests that they have a credible enough source to make that report. The body of the article is strongly worded, too. The only wording that’s ambiguous is the “we’ve heard”, and the context of the line suggests that it’s “our Lucasfilm sources have told us this” rather than “fans have speculated this”.

They might as well release the trailer on April 16 for everyone because those who did not attend will hear and read a description, or see very grainy footage of the trailer from someone’s cellphone after the celebration is over. Just like what happen last year at Comic-Con with the new Batman vs. Superman film.

I hope there is a surprise

    Like:

    1. We see the Enterprise and Captain Kirk at the end coming through a wormhole

    2. See Darth Sidious saying “I’m back” and laughing

    3. See Vader saying “I’m back” and breathing heavily

    4. Seeing an enemy from Star Trek like the Borg or Klingons. Some kind of connectiond
