Here’s a small excerpt from the review:

A lot has been revealed in the last two weeks regarding Rebels and it seems to be building up to the season finale that’s taking place in a few weeks from now. “Rebels Resolve” pushes us to closer to the finale, but does it make things clearer or…has it clouded everything? Kanan’s fate is in the Empire’s hands. What does that mean exactly? LET’S FIND OUT!

Will the season finale be 44-minute long like Spark of Rebellion?

It must be if the whole 16 episodes for season one is correct. Honestly, the episode numbering for this season is all over the place depending on where you look, but the only way you can arrive at 16 episodes is if you count Spark of Rebellion as two and Fire Across the Galaxy as two more.

They all feel like their 44min long, and not in a good way.

So this is what I got from looking at the Production codes:

Episode 1- The 4 shorts that were released before spark of rebellion.

      Episodes 2-3- Spark of rebellion

Episodes 4-15 ‘Droids in distress’ to ‘Rebel Resolve’

Episode 16- ‘Fire Across the Galaxy’

And thats how it adds up to 16, I think.

I hate to say this, but after all these episode, even though Filoni, the absence of George Lucas at the helm of this show is very tangible.
It is not a case that Clone Wars, at least to me, has started to take off when George Lucas begun to be more involved in it.

Every day that pass, every rumors that I read, I start to have a terrible fear for TFA and Star Wars future in general.

Probably I have to accept the truth that SW ended with 6 episodes.

buddy…the absense of Lucas at the helm started in 1999. some people will just never “get it”… the retirement of Lucas was a celebration at my families home.we already knew there was going to be a third trilogy before it was even announced. (my nephew works in the industry)..we were actually scared that Lucas would now destroy the OT with his new trilogy. when he stepped down, my whole family rejoiced.

Who wrote the best line in any Star Wars movie? Harrison Ford, while being on the set.
Thank you. There’s no point anymore in discussing if any new Star Wars story would be better with Lucas involved, because he has left Star Wars behind. He moved on.

I think Rebels is a lot better than clone wars… but that’s not saying much. I feel like the presentation of the show is too “clean” for Star Wars, like as in all the textures feel too smooth, the characters don’t look like they belong in Star Wars. The Jedi fights are a bit more fluid than TCW animation which was VERY stiff… although the sabers feel way too filmsy for me to enjoy those fights… like it almost feels like watching a fencing match.

But I really enjoy the artistic direction… the large scale scenes with zoom outs of Lothal’s Empire base/ city are very impressive. I love seeing the different versions of storm troopers & vehicles, in that regard I’m impressed with Filoni’s work. I was never into the EU much aside from games… I do think it’s cool that Filoni is trying to please the EU fanbase… though at the same time it’s missing something that makes Star Wars what it is… I can’t put it into words. But I can’t fault Filoni in that regard… he’s trying hard, it’s just not my cup of tea.

Simply: you cannot have a proper official Star Wars without George Lucas behind it somehow.

you like rebels more than clone wars? wow, are there others that feel this way? I’m waiting for rebels to pick up, some episodes it seems like it will but then it stays the same. I thoroughly enjoyed TCW

I can’t see them killing Kanan off. At least not until the middle of the second or maybe end of 3rd season.

Well, he’s gotta die sooner than later. It’d be ridiculous for them to try and make sense of squeezing his existence into the events that take place in ANH.

I don’t think that Kanan is going to die in the finale of the season. At this point his death wouldn’t have a big impact. They might kill him at the end of the series, when his death matters. I liked the episode. Rebels is a good show.

Ya, Kanan is still too “new” to be killed off on Rebels. Maybe towards the end of the series but not in season 1.

Unless it’s killed like Ben Kenobi was (end of the first film, comparing to end of first season). Then Ben is replaced by Yoda in Empire. Here we would have Ashoka Tano.

Well maybe they got inspired by Game Of Thrones. Killing important characters keeps the audience on their toes. They should show more tits then too.

From the picture, each part of Ezra looks like it was designed seperatly. His collar, his sleeve, his wrist guards, even the top verses the bottom of his glove. That’s fun in anamation but I hope they don’t go that rout in TFA. I find it more believable and more pleasing when characters dress in a way that makes a more unified visual impression. Eg: Luke, Han, James Bond, Gandalf, Ironman, TinTin, Snake Eyes, and Santa Claus.

I watched but they should make it more child friendly. It’s far too violent.
Last episode Tarkin ordered Inquisitor to execute the two soldiers in front of everyone with his lightsaber.
This episode they showed Inquisitor and Tarkin TORTURING Kanaan.
    Far too violent
    Disney should remain child friendly

They might have gone a little too far with the Inquisitor and Tarkin last episode. But over all I think the violence is Empire Strikes Back level.

      How?

I’m not really sure that I agree. The violence was implied violence. It never actually showed what happened to them (though you do not need a strong imagination to know what happened). The Disney label started off kid friendly but they are shedding that to an extent these days. Look at the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and even the latest batch of superhero movies. They are quite violent. I do realize that they are not cartoons and in the United States, animation is pretty much reserved for a younger crowd. I think they are doing a fine job while keeping the series a bit more youngster friendly than Clone Wars, but I suspect this will not be the end of the questionable and borderline scenes.

Kids don’t need more “child friendly”. Good parenting is all they need, not a padded view of life that will screw them up when they become adults and realize the world isn’t sunny flower-time marshmallow pie.

uhm… the clone wars started off with a WW1 style battle with clones getting killed everywhere, went on with the whole dathomir story arc that involved decapitations and such…. this had very brief amount of kills, only two kinda significative, offscreen. The torturing scenes aren’t that though in the star wars universe, plus the sequence we’ve seen here was not though at all compared to the ones in the clone wars. I’ve seen way worse…

and what about the other star “WARS” movies did you think were not violent? the millions of people who were killed in episode 4? ( any war scene in any of the saga) Ham solo being tortured?luke getting his hand cut off? slicing a taun taun open showing his internal organs? being executed by the sarlack pit? Rancor eating a gamorian guard? Ewoks beheading stormtroopers to use as musical instruments? the thousands of innocent construction workers on the death star2 being blown into oblivion? darth maul being chopped in half? Anakin murdering children? I mean….we can do this all night…. just what exactly were you expecting? LOL

Not enough Tarkin for me this week, great villain. Hope he’s heavily featured in the finale.
Wouldn’t it be good if they reach Mustafar and Vader’s waiting for them. Probably not though. At least they’ll be off Lothal for a change!!

Can somebody explain the ending When that green chick told Ezra that Kanan told her that the Mustafar System is where Jedis go to die.

Why is the Mustafar system known as place Jedis go to die?

I just remember Obi Wan and Vader dueling there. All the Jedis were killed everywhere, younglings killed in Jedi temple. Was Mustafar system known previously (before prequel era) as a place Jedis went to die?

Good Question…I hope there will be some Lore dump with the next episode…I could imagine Vader leading or bringing Jedi Targets on Mustafar to kill them there…

Order 66 didn’t end with the killing of everyone in the temple. The hunt for the jedi probably lasted for many years afterwards. I’d guess it’s just something Kanan’s heard of during that time. Why he’s the only one in the team who’s heard it though that’s a bit confusing.

I’m wondering if the huge structure on Mustafar, being the place that the Seperatist leaders were all killed by the newly appointed Lord Vader, thus ending the Clone Wars and ushering in the rise of the Empire, has now become a beacon of evil, a dark side fortress/prison/palace that Palpatine or even Vader himself set up in the years after after Ep III with the sole purpose of imprisoning, torturing and executing rebels, Jedi or anyone who dares stand against the Empire, maybe even being the homebase for the Inquisitors?
Roll on the next episode so we can find out (but the crew will probably rescue Kanan before we get anywhere near Mustafar and all the action will take place on Lothal…….again)

The Mustafar system is a small system of a few planets including Mustafar, Jestefad, Lefrani, Schada, Rietta, and (a planet commonly forgotten) Lola Sayu. The Citadel is a prison designed to hold Jedi so that they can’t escape, and its a place where they break Jedi for information and if they don’t give up the information they die.

As long as it’s a show on a children’s channel, I expect it to be child-appropriate. Clone Wars was intended for a different demographic, so of course it was much darker and appropriately so. I’d love a more adult show too, but don’t put it on a kiddie channel and give them torture scenes.
