For our next review Sideshow collectibles has sent the scruffy looking nerf herder we have all grown to love. Captain Han Solo – Hoth Sixth Scale Figure. Ultimately he joins up with the Rebel Alliance to fight for galactic freedom and becomes a major ally to Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker. Read our full review after the jump.
Product Summary:
On the run and with a price on his head, the intergalactic smuggler Han Solo joins the Rebel Alliance at their remote secret location on Hoth, Echo Base. Dressed for the planet’s notorious sub-zero climate, Solo is fitted in an authentically replicated brown quilted parka, complete with rank insignia and fur-trimmed hood. Two scarves, a cap and goggles frame the scoundrel’s lifelike portrait, which perfectly captures actor Harrison Ford in the role that made him a star.
Though hiding and freezing on the wretched ice cube doesn’t sit well with the smuggler’s disposition, when Rebel Commander Luke Skywalker goes missing during a routine patrol, Solo has no choice but to leap onto the back of an ill-fated tauntaun and go out after him. Fully equipped with a blaster pistol, macrobinoculars, droid caller, and portable life scanner, he’s willing to risk everything on a rescue mission to find his friend and save the day.
When I first received the figure I removed it from its shipping box and was greeted by two boxes in one. As some of you may already know Sideshow Collectibles normally designs the boxes with a folding flap hiding a clear window. This makes it easy to display the collectible in its sealed box. Han’s box folds open to reveal two boxes, both with windows. On the left side we have the display base and a selection of hands for different poses, and a droid caller. On the right side we have the man himself along with his blaster, binoculars, scanner and an extra portrait (head).
Upon removing Han from his plastic and cardboard prison I was amazed by the level of detail sculpted into this figure. Han’s face is very lifelike and even includes his scar and the mole on his chin. Two portraits are included, one with headgear and goggles and one without.
Han is dressed in his Hoth outfit. His iconic blue parka is a thing of beauty, from its fur lined hood down to the stitching, it’s all here in fine detail (a brown version is also available). He wears a holster at his hip which perfectly holds his blaster and his belt holds a detachable droid caller. Even his pants and boots appear to be screen accurate.
Also included is binoculars with what appears to be a leather strap that allows them to hang perfectly from his shoulder. Even the scanning equipment he and Luke were using on patrol has been included. I have to say for an object that is normally overlooked in collectibles, the detail of this scanner is dead on, it comes with both extended and retracted antenna. Next we have Han’s weapon of choice, the mighty DL-44 blaster.
“Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.” His blaster looks just like the one from the movie.
The figure comes with six extra hand variations for multiple posing abilities. Also included is the display stand that has been crafted to look like snow covered rocks (the snow covered rocks can be removed from the base). There are a lot of options here for display. Sideshow Collectibles also have a sixth scale Tauntaun and Imperial Probe Droid for ultimate Hoth scene displays (both sold separately).
Overall this is one finely detailed figure. I am amazed at the amount of work that was put into this figure. The details are spot on and screen accurate. My only complaint is that the magnets that hold the box flap closed are not very strong, so the flap doesn’t want to stay closed. I doubt anyone will be displaying it closed anyway.
Harrison Ford will be reprising his role as Han Solo in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Only time will tell the final story of Han Solo and what role he plays in the movie. Pre-order your Han Solo HERE before he jumps to light speed and is gone forever.

Did they use Light Stage X for these figurines? Because Han Solo figurine looks exactly like Harrison Ford as though they scanned his face and printed it.
The Life size figures on this site are AWESOME!!!!
They aren’t life size they’re around 12″-ish scale.
I hear that Harrison ford is going to be in the new blade runner, so that may mean he’s going to be skipping out on starwars to film that. You should write and article about it.
I imagine once we see his character’s fate in TFA we’ll understand that it’s not “skipping out.” It’s moving on…
Yes, because it would be impossible to schedule filming for his part in Blade Runner and filming for potential Star Wars sequels at different times. You have no understanding of how life works do you?
How about a give away guys, its been awhile. ;p but these figures always look so great. Such nice detail
Oh look, it’s a statue of Han from Episode VII…. no wait, it’s just ESB.
I get these two trilogies mixed up.
