UPDATE 3! “Inside The Force Awakens” Featurette to Air this Sunday on Disney XD.

The Force Awakens

ComicBook.com has the schedule for this weekend Star Wars: Rebels marathon on Disney Channel and Disney XD. Interestingly, the Sunday marathon will be followed by a featurette called “Inside The Force Awakens,” which promises to reveal new secrets from TFA trailer . . .

From ComicBook:

Disney is giving you a chance to catch up with Star Wars Rebels with Star Wars Rebels Reloaded marathons this weekend on Disney Channel and Disney XD. The marathon will re-air every episode of the series so far.

Saturday, 12/13 (11:20am-4:00pm ET/PT) on Disney Channel

Saturday, 12/13 (4:00pm-8:30pm ET/PT) on Disney XD
Sunday, 12/14 (12:00pm-4:30pm ET/PT) on Disney XD

Additionally, the Sunday marathon on Disney XD will be followed by “Inside The Force Awakens,” a feature that the press release promises will reveal “official trailer secrets you may have missed.” The feature will be hosted by Kirby Bucket’s Jacob Bertrand.

It probably won’t be something groundbreaking but make sure to tune in on Sunday.

UPDATE!

Daisy Ridley

Pomojema here, with bad news and good news. Apparently, the special did not air in certain areas, so I can’t provide a recap of what happened. However, the good news is that somebody else did. According to this exchange, the featurette included an indirect confirmation that the desert planet really is Tatooine (some suspected that it was a different planet), the Aurebesh on Poe Dameron’s flight suit means “pull to inflate” in English, and Rey’s goggles being repurposed lenses from Stormtrooper helmets. So nothing big in the long run.

UPDATE 2!

Viral here with a more accurate description from the featurette:

From Nerdist:

And because I’ve seen rumors and speculation swirling, this brief “special” did not officially confirm that Tatooine is the desert planet at the beginning of the trailer. There were shots from the trailer with this voice over, “Recognize that ship, remember that planet, and of course, who could forget the X-wing fighters?” That’s far from specific. Is it a hint for Tatooine? Maybe, but it’s not confirmation.

So there you have it. Not an actual confirmation but a very strong hint that the desert planet is Tatooine.

Another desert planet introduced in TFA never made much sense. Remember that Episode VII will try to make the transition from the OT to ST smooth and easy, especially for the new audience. I understand that we all want to see new worlds in the Sequel Trilogy, and I’m sure we will in the near future. After all probably Disney already has a plan for Star Wars for another 40 years. 🙂

So plenty of new worlds to come, but for now I think they will play it safe with The Force Awakens.

UPDATE 3!

Disney XD uploaded the featurette on youtube. The video has no location restrictions:

True. It stands to reason though that some of them were clones. In the canon novel Tarkin, Vader selects a special team to accompany him on Murkhana. Among them were Sergeant Crest, a bonafide Jango clone. But I admit it is aggravating when someone says, “Wow! Have you seen the new Clone Trooper armor?!” …*Sigh*…

Yea and especially by the point of episode 7, they can’t be clones. Unless they make a huge mistake considering it is canon that the clones are bred with growth excellerators that double the human life cycle. So a clone will not live half as long as a normal human. In which I’ve heard people say then boba fett should have been a decrepit old man in the OT. He was given no such growth excelleration or neural inhibitors. So naturally the empire had to fill their ranks with real people, and sure a few here and there until they were unfit for service.

How can you even post this drivel… how many idiots does it take to make a racist fanboi video…
The clones received in the PQ’s were limited. So we can determine that there is a finite amount and we can also determine until presented with more facts that these Kamino clone vats were most likely shut down either by the Jedi or Kaminoans due to non paying customers/no customers. We know from ROTS through to ROTJ that these numbers had dwindled significantly through various sequences in conflicts caught on film. We also know that the empire recruited or assimilated citizens/denziens of worlds they took control of and swelled their ranks in the military. Officers such as Tarkin/Veers et al are evidence of this. We also know Biggs left to join the academy as was Luke’s plans. How much more evidence do you racists need to make a logical/critical conclusion. Really really sick of hate mongering racists dressing themselves up as Star Wars fans..

Bravo, bravo! Some common sense reactions to a toxic problem that thankfully seems to be diminishing. The indignation and fire (and knowledge) you express I can tell is coming from a good place. With all the bullshit and hate in the world revolved around race and racism, can the best escapist cinema be our last bastion of hope and civility? Maybe. Maybe not. I’ll admit I was nervous that this clip was in some way going to pander to the bigots, but I think it balanced the opposing positions in typical CH style. Still with the above news there’s so much to be excited about. Every day seems to bring something new. Anyway stay strong.

There is a third desert planet in the SW canon. The latest campaign in the Star Wars Commander game takes place on Er’kit, a desert planet with conditions similar to Tatooine. So a never before seen on film desert planet is not out of the question. However, I still think it’s Tatooine.

  • December 15, 2014 at 4:52 pm

First it is, then it’s not– all this misdirection is really annoying. We all know it’s Tatooine. If JJ decided to throw in yet another desert planet I think we’d all be very disappointed. We’re going to re-visit familiar places to start the story and then end in completely new locations. I am sure of this. He’s trying to link the old trilogy with the new one.

Whats so cool about star wars is try as Hollywood might they have to suffer and not put in any complementary references. So he will not just be a token black guy he will be human being from another galaxy and with his own origin and back story aside from what Hollywood loves to racially profile black people as. Same goes for all races in star wars. Star wars is a transcending idea and the writers have be dragged kicking screaming along with it.

There were some contemporary references in attack of clones however remember when c3po said “this is such a drag” when he was being dragged. So hopefully there are no contemporary references in this episode 7.

Yes, Geonosis was a sandy/rock planet, but it doesn’t make any sense to bring it up here. Totally irrelevant since Geonosis has a totally different look (red, rocky, digital) than that of Tatooine. Since the desert planet in the trailer is so obviously not Geonosis, what this guy is saying is if we “remember this planet” and it looks like Tatooine than it probably is- since it’s the only desert planet that we’ve seen in the films that actually resembles it.

But seriously, it’s like they are making fun of the fans by stating exactly what we already figured out.

And as far as “remember that planet” goes, he could mean “remember it from the trailer”, if they really want to mess with us. But let’s not forget “the Jedi will rise” line from the Rebels teaser. This could be half BS made up by marketing people who don’t actually know that much about the actual film and are assuming it is Tatooine.

If they want to keep incremental bits of the production process comming in the form of trailer poster, they should actually get some work done.

Personly, I think that even in the first railer one could see that its release was quite premature, as it fell very very short of being impressive. But it seems that they want to keep “the fans” addicted and continuously “engaged”. I am not so sure if that strategy is sensible. There is a risk of being worn out til the thing finally hits the screen.

The trailers are not nearly as much fun as the production videos of the Hobbit (and let me be clear the production videos of the Hobbit were far better than the movie itself).

The video sucks it’s just some fake Disney kid talking about what he saw in trailer and pretty much talking about what he thought. You could tell the director just made up some random crap and told the kid to say it.

I say this because at the very end the kid states that the light saber sound you hear in the trailer is the sound of Luke’s light saber, which is true of talking about Luke’s first saber but not his ROTJ saber, which he retrieved by the way, before leaving the deathstar with his dad.

Cause he has his light saber with him down on Endor at the end. It just seems like the person telling the kid what to say just came up with random crap and didn’t really care about Star Wars.

Like someone else said its like they were making fun of fans and insulting or f&$ing intelligence.

I’m in Canada, one of the countries this video is not available in, but I was finally able to see it (using an IP unblocking app).

What I truly do not get: why was this video blocked at all?

The VFX for The Force Awakens is being worked on now, at ILM-Vancouver, a three hour drive from where I sit.

Yet the marketing (and yes, for sure “Inside the Force Awakens” is marketing) for the movie they’re working hard to make is blocked from the same country they’re working in?

    I don’t get it.
