Mark Hamill Shaved his Beard!

Mark HamillMark Hamill has just posted on Instagram a picture of him and his wife in front of Pinewood studios. Could this mean that the actor has also wrapped his Episode VII filming?…

…. or maybe he is filming his final bad-ass scenes where he appears at the end of the movie all shaved up and saves the day! 🙂

It’s a neat trick to have such a sweet treat in my life @marilouhamill

I assume he’s done filming then. You’d still think he’d hold onto it for a while in case there’s any pick-up shots they may need to do later on.

I know he hated that beard so I bet he feels much better now 😛

I wonder why he’s still at Pinewood though. If he’s finished filming why would he still be in the UK? Perhaps losing his beard is part of the Ep VII story?

Mark’s beard was inspired by VII going old school, so he decided to pursue a career in 70s porn. Unfortunately, his agent neglected to tell him it was the women who were bearded. 😉

LUKE’S BEARD: Your barber never told you what happened to your chin.
LUKE: He told me enough! He told me you covered him!
LUKE’S BEARD: No. I AM your chin!
LUKE: That’s not true! That’s impossible!
LUKE’S CHIN: Search your whiskers. You KNOW it to be true!
    *Luke feels around his beard.*
    LUKE: NOOOOO-UGHHHH….NOOOOO!!!

Damn he looks in so much better shape than a year ago it’s crazy. He looks like himself again instead of that pasty bloated codfish.

I doubt this is true, but keep in mind if he lost his beard in the story, or they shot flashbacks without the beard you would normally grow the beard, shoot all the shots with it, cut it and shoot everything without it.

Also possible that Luke dies and we are shooting force ghost stuff without the beard.

more probable is that he is finished and the only thing they will need to fix later is ADR which he can do without the beard.

During the course of the movie, Luke reached higher level of the Force and assembled himself a Lightshaver.
Not even Ben was able to do that

I would say that means he has finished his part in 7. I wonder if he will be back again in ep8?

Adam Driver will play a wealthy aristocrat who searches the galaxy far and wide for ancient Sith beard follicles. He eventually comes into possession of Luke’s beard, which, when implanted, connects him to the Skywalker line and makes him the new Chosen One, destined to balance the hair growth.

He’s the grave robber desperately searching Vader’s charred remains for preserved follicles to complete his collection. Fortunately, his ashy helmet shielded a lone white nasal hair that had survived the lava burning on Mustafar, thus tying together all the trilogies.

Possibly, at the end of EpVII, Luke’s beard has been abducted by the villain which leaves us with a cliffhanger scene leading into EpVII.

I don’ t like bearded Luke in 7. Not only he looks really bad, bud he’ ll look older than Han Solo…..this is how he should look in it. Why all the older Jedi needs to have beard?

He shaved for a flashback scene. I have this feeling that this movie is going to be filled with flashbacks over the time period between episodes 6 and 7, and also between 3 and 4.

Y’know what it could be ….
He was a bearded Jedi recluse in exile.
Just like Ben Kenobi in IV.
Then, convinced of an imminent threat to the Republic,
he cleaned himself up to rejoin his compatriots.
I bet it’s something along those lines.

As a bearded Jedi Master the climactic scene of the movie is when he scolds Adam Driver for using a Philips Beard Trimmer and demonstrates to him the folly of his ways by producing a more elegant lightrazor.

    Driver: “What is it?”

Hamill: Your father’s lightrazor. This is the razor of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as an electric jobby; an elegant razor for a more civilized age. For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times… before the neckbeards and George Michael designer stubble.

Luke then shaves his beard while Driver looks on in disbelief.

He has filmed his scenes as his beard has grown. The long, unkempt, hobo beard for the middle of the movie where he has been captured/trapped, the shorter beard for the beginning when he is captured and the clean look for the end when he escapes and saves the day and is back to the Luke we all remember. I hope Luke makes it through the entire new trilogy. It would be a lovely thread for original fans & it would keep the Skywalker name front and centre ready for the end of Episode XI when Luke finally has restored the Jedi order . . .

They should never have given him a beard. The young Luke didn’t have a beard. A beard made him look too much like Obi Wan and not enough like young Luke. Also Jedi robes (not sure whether he wore them for ep.VII), Luke was not a monk, Luke’s a farmer boy and a fighter.
