Mark Hamill Shaved his Beard!

Mark HamillMark Hamill has just posted on Instagram a picture of him and his wife in front of Pinewood studios. Could this mean that the actor has also wrapped his Episode VII filming?…

…. or maybe he is filming his final bad-ass scenes where he appears at the end of the movie all shaved up and saves the day! 🙂

It’s a neat trick to have such a sweet treat in my life @marilouhamill

I assume he’s done filming then. You’d still think he’d hold onto it for a while in case there’s any pick-up shots they may need to do later on.

I know he hated that beard so I bet he feels much better now 😛

I wonder why he’s still at Pinewood though. If he’s finished filming why would he still be in the UK? Perhaps losing his beard is part of the Ep VII story?

  • October 31, 2014 at 9:29 pm

    Definitely won’t miss the beard.

  • October 31, 2014 at 9:33 pm

Were he and his beard on the same side of the Force?

  • October 31, 2014 at 9:35 pm

Wish he had never grown it.

  • October 31, 2014 at 9:37 pm

Mark’s beard was inspired by VII going old school, so he decided to pursue a career in 70s porn. Unfortunately, his agent neglected to tell him it was the women who were bearded. 😉

    Hmph. I knew it… -_-

  • October 31, 2014 at 9:49 pm

the photo means that filming ended

Thus concludes the adventures of Hobo Skywalker….

LUKE’S BEARD: Your barber never told you what happened to your chin.
LUKE: He told me enough! He told me you covered him!
LUKE’S BEARD: No. I AM your chin!
LUKE: That’s not true! That’s impossible!
LUKE’S CHIN: Search your whiskers. You KNOW it to be true!
    *Luke feels around his beard.*

  • October 31, 2014 at 10:18 pm

Damn he looks in so much better shape than a year ago it’s crazy. He looks like himself again instead of that pasty bloated codfish.

    • October 31, 2014 at 10:40 pm

He’s Luke Skywalker and he’s here to resurrect the saga

  • October 31, 2014 at 10:25 pm

I doubt this is true, but keep in mind if he lost his beard in the story, or they shot flashbacks without the beard you would normally grow the beard, shoot all the shots with it, cut it and shoot everything without it.

Also possible that Luke dies and we are shooting force ghost stuff without the beard.

more probable is that he is finished and the only thing they will need to fix later is ADR which he can do without the beard.

    • October 31, 2014 at 11:34 pm

During the course of the movie, Luke reached higher level of the Force and assembled himself a Lightshaver.
Not even Ben was able to do that

  • October 31, 2014 at 10:41 pm

I would say that means he has finished his part in 7. I wonder if he will be back again in ep8?

  • October 31, 2014 at 10:49 pm

A bit of Chicagoland geekery here… I love the Svengoolie shirt!! ;^)

  • October 31, 2014 at 10:50 pm

Why does it have to mean anything? It’s star wars… a fake beard would take all of 5 minutes to slap on.

  • October 31, 2014 at 10:56 pm

Are you guys sure it’s Luke’s hand that’ll be floating through space?

  • October 31, 2014 at 11:16 pm

Adam Driver will play a wealthy aristocrat who searches the galaxy far and wide for ancient Sith beard follicles. He eventually comes into possession of Luke’s beard, which, when implanted, connects him to the Skywalker line and makes him the new Chosen One, destined to balance the hair growth.

He’s the grave robber desperately searching Vader’s charred remains for preserved follicles to complete his collection. Fortunately, his ashy helmet shielded a lone white nasal hair that had survived the lava burning on Mustafar, thus tying together all the trilogies.

Everything is happening as I have forseen it.

  • October 31, 2014 at 11:42 pm

He lost his beard in battle.

    • November 1, 2014 at 12:03 am

Luke shot his proton torbeardo into the Death Shaver Mach III, thus “Luke saves the day at the end, but in a bad way; he has changed,”

  • October 31, 2014 at 11:50 pm

Possibly, at the end of EpVII, Luke’s beard has been abducted by the villain which leaves us with a cliffhanger scene leading into EpVII.

    • November 1, 2014 at 12:14 am

That’s one hell of a cliffhanger if it leads an Episode back into itself!

    • November 1, 2014 at 12:29 am

      Luke’s beard + mo-capped Serkis = GENIUS!!! xD

  • November 1, 2014 at 12:23 am

I should have top billing in this picture! Whose face do I have to sit on to get some respect around here?!

  • November 1, 2014 at 12:24 am

I don’ t like bearded Luke in 7. Not only he looks really bad, bud he’ ll look older than Han Solo…..this is how he should look in it. Why all the older Jedi needs to have beard?

    • November 1, 2014 at 1:52 am

      A compelling argument..

      “he looks really bad”

Oh well damn. If only JJ knew.

  • November 1, 2014 at 12:28 am

He shaved for a flashback scene. I have this feeling that this movie is going to be filled with flashbacks over the time period between episodes 6 and 7, and also between 3 and 4.

  • November 1, 2014 at 1:13 am

Nice the old chap’s finally lookin peachy.

  • November 1, 2014 at 1:14 am

So that medieval light saber has a purpose, those tiny light saber end pieces are used to shave beards! Happy Halloween!

  • November 1, 2014 at 1:27 am

Y’know what it could be ….
He was a bearded Jedi recluse in exile.
Just like Ben Kenobi in IV.
Then, convinced of an imminent threat to the Republic,
he cleaned himself up to rejoin his compatriots.
I bet it’s something along those lines.

  • November 1, 2014 at 2:30 am

Mark Hamill. Consistently a nice guy, especially to the Star Wars fans. So glad to see him get this opportunity.

  • November 1, 2014 at 3:33 am

As a bearded Jedi Master the climactic scene of the movie is when he scolds Adam Driver for using a Philips Beard Trimmer and demonstrates to him the folly of his ways by producing a more elegant lightrazor.

    Driver: “What is it?”

Hamill: Your father’s lightrazor. This is the razor of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as an electric jobby; an elegant razor for a more civilized age. For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times… before the neckbeards and George Michael designer stubble.

Luke then shaves his beard while Driver looks on in disbelief.

  • November 1, 2014 at 4:05 am

He has filmed his scenes as his beard has grown. The long, unkempt, hobo beard for the middle of the movie where he has been captured/trapped, the shorter beard for the beginning when he is captured and the clean look for the end when he escapes and saves the day and is back to the Luke we all remember. I hope Luke makes it through the entire new trilogy. It would be a lovely thread for original fans & it would keep the Skywalker name front and centre ready for the end of Episode XI when Luke finally has restored the Jedi order . . .

  • November 1, 2014 at 4:58 am

Luke Skywalker will make it through the new trilogy but as a force spirit in Episode 9

    • November 1, 2014 at 6:33 am

      Yes. We know that. -_-

But will his beard be okay?! It’s there! It’s REALLY there! It’s not there! Somebody get me off this rollercoaster! <:'O

  • November 1, 2014 at 3:08 pm

Now his real scenes will be filmed as the villain! The beard was just a ruse so that we think he will be playing the Obi-Wan-typ character!

  • November 1, 2014 at 5:05 pm

What’s up with all the beard hatin’? I thought his beard looked badass.

    • November 1, 2014 at 6:44 pm

It did look badass, the same people would be complaining even if he did the movie clean shaven anyway; they’re morons.

  • November 1, 2014 at 5:06 pm

+ he looks buff in the pictures… I’m thinking he won’t be the hermit prisoner the rumors are making him out to be. I have a feeling we will be getting some action out of him.

  • November 1, 2014 at 6:43 pm

I’m so happy for Mark, this is possibly the best shape he’s been in since the early 90s.

  • November 3, 2014 at 5:08 am

For now on, Andy Serkis will be mo-capping as Mark Hamill’s beard.

  • November 3, 2014 at 10:12 am

They should never have given him a beard. The young Luke didn’t have a beard. A beard made him look too much like Obi Wan and not enough like young Luke. Also Jedi robes (not sure whether he wore them for ep.VII), Luke was not a monk, Luke’s a farmer boy and a fighter.
