New Star Wars: Episode 7 Set Photos, Plus a First Glimpse at the Incendiary Stormtrooper.

Our pal Jason Ward at MakingStarWars has apparently received a handful of images (along with a bit of testimony) of a few sets at what appears to be Black Park, a rumored filming location near Pinewood Studios. One of the images contains a fleeting glimpse of what appears to be an Incendiary Stormtrooper.

Some of the images are simply behind-the-scenes looks at the filming location itself with minimal looks at the set itself. However, some of the pictures are interesting, such as the aforementioned new Stormtrooper design, so we’ll post a few of the highlights (the rest can be viewed at Jason’s website).

Flame Trooper

It might not be easy to see in the thumbnail, but if you click on the image above, you can clearly see that the Stormtrooper has a singular, Cyclops-esque visor, and that he’s more heavily-equipped than your standard Stormtrooper.

Beyond that, there’s what appears to be a bit of more jungle-like foliage, and conversely what looks like a large pile of logs from deciduous trees – a barrier, perhaps?

Behind The Scenes

But wait, there’s more! In addition to these photos, we have a couple of details from the people who were able to sneak in and take the photographs.

Amongst the ruins were signs of high technology, apparently abandoned, something which reminded me of the guns on the X-wing sticking out of the ground, antenna, and this nearly made me fall out the tree; what looked like the middle section of a TIE fighter! I don’t think that’s what it was as it was probably a bit too small. It was black with a strip around it like a window, and I’d say it looked big enough for maybe one or two people – if indeed it was a ship.

My phone ran out of battery pretty soon after I took the photos of the Stormtrooper, frustrating but to be honest it was an experience that took us both, I think, back to that magical place from our childhoods and we were obviously really lucky to have been there! The smoke from the explosions gave the area a misty look as if we were on Dagobah or something! To hear ‘Run Chewie’, coming, unmistakably from the mouth of Han/Harrison Ford… it was electric! I think that moment… It was confirmation that this film IS STAR WARS!

Production of Episode VII is slated to wrap in a few weeks, and things are bound to get a bit quieter until the first trailer drops, but still – it’s an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan.

to someone who wanted to hear chewbacca’s name or harrison ford’s voice, this is what they heard… even though reality could have been far different. It’s just like people who want to find bigfoot and then see it when going hiking.

If Chewbacca is in this scene, I hope he dies a noble death, beause he’s going to get a million blaster bullets in his butt.

I can’t imagine Chewie running very much with Peter Mayhew’s age and knee condition.
Also, I saw where Daisy Ridley changed casting agencies. She is now with CAA. It’s odd she was with the other one for only a couple of months.

I’m still a little confused by the storm trooper design… Shouldn’t it be the same as from the originals? I mean if there are still stormtrooper pockets out there, they probably don’t have the resources to go around changing armor type. Thoughts?

Right. After all, it’s not like things should EVER evolve in what is supposed to be, not a single world but a GALAXY filled with countless races, most of them possessing very advanced technology.

It’s not uncommon for the military of a country or entity to make reforms and evolve/enhance their forces after a major defeat. Look at the history of warfare and you’ll find a slew of massive defeats followed by reforms and later successes.

I wonder if Mayhews’ new chewie outfit has some grey hair on it, middle-aged chewie would look cool, maybe give longer, grizzlier hair too.
It’s good to know that JJ is actually using Harrison Ford and Peter Mayhew properly, Han Solo is the king of catch-phrases such as “Run!!”, the fact that their in a “run for your life” situation says that Han Solo is staying true to himself.

In that pic with the trooper, I zoomed in and saw two more, one dead or injured, lying to the right of the obvious one and then the helmet of another just to the left of the sapling. The latter has the Vaderesque helmet, slighly grey in color with that signature new visor. JJ needs to beef up security, what if had been ISIS instead of paparazzi.

Where in this photo can you make out the visor? To me it looks like the back of the stormtrooper who is wearing some type of pack on his back, I can’t see the visor since his head is pointed the other direction.

Okay, maybe “clearly” wasn’t quite the right word. But you can see what appears to be a thin visor on the left (which is where he appears to be looking).
