Mark Hamill is Also in London!

Met up with @HamillHimself in London today. I wonder why he’s here.
β€” Peter Serafinowicz (@serafinowicz) April 27, 2014

Peter Serafinowicz aka the voice of Darth Maul from Star Wars: Episode I posted a curious image with him and Mark Hamill from London. Was that meeting a coincidence?

So we have Mark Hamill with a beard ala Obi-Wan and Harrison Ford with a Han Solo hair cut. And filming is starting in mid May. What if they’re all there earlier because of May the 4th?

And don’t forget that there’s a Disney earnings call on May 6th. You can’t just ignore all that. An official announcement is probably coming in the next 8 days!

This will be great.. Too bad Lucasfilm won’t confirm this till July or August. Or even later.

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:14 pm

It’s official. The big three is back.

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:14 pm

The Big Three is really coming back! HELL YEAH!

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:15 pm

I have to say he seems to be in great shape in this picture. Definitely lost a lot of weight. I was afraid people wouldn’t be able to recognize him after so many years but now all my fears have gone away πŸ™‚

    • April 27, 2014 at 9:16 pm

Master Luke returns for the big screen!!!

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:19 pm

Just wondering, are there still people who believe that they are being recast? Because if you are that gullible, please send me $1 million, i promise ill pay back

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:33 pm

Looks like he has started growing a beard to come back as an old jedi master Luke..

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:34 pm

    Random Thought:

What if sometime between Episode VI and VII, Luke falls to the Dark Side, and will be a Sith Lord in Episode VII.

    • April 27, 2014 at 10:23 pm

PLEASE GOD NO. We already did that with vader anyway. If they churn out another powerful-jedi-turns-dark-side-and-needs-redemption storyline I will rip my head off.

    • April 27, 2014 at 10:50 pm

You’re right in that it’s already been done with Vader, so it would be a bit anti-climactic.

But then again, Lucas has been known to like “symmetry” in his trilogies.

    • April 27, 2014 at 11:02 pm

I just want the villain to be a good ol’ fashion villain for once. I don’t see why everyone’s started this thing where we should empathize with the villains and blah blah blah. Why not create this horrible fucking bastard who is pure evil and does horrible shit so we can actually root for the heroes to win?? It’s not rocket science.

    • April 28, 2014 at 3:54 am

^You do realize that this “horrible… pure evil” villian you speak of is not Darth Vader, right? Because Vader became good in the end.

Personally, I’m tired of these black and white hero/villian storylines. There is no pure evil and no pure good.

“Only a Sith deals with absolutes.”

    • April 28, 2014 at 7:50 am

      so you’re a sith then?

    • April 28, 2014 at 11:16 am

You do realize that this “horrible… pure evil” villian you speak of is not Darth Vader, right?

um yeeeees didn’t you read my point? Modern villains are weak compared to good ol’ fashioned evil villains. Sure, darth vader is one example. What’s your point?
“Personally, I’m tired of these black and white hero/villian storylines.”
One of the things that made star wars so great was that it was a simple story between good and evil. Darth Vader was redeemed but he wasn’t the villain. If vader had died in the original star wars then the empire would have carried on. The main villain was the emperor, who, as I say, was just pure evil and hatred.

My thought was that Luke’s son, at some point (end of Ep. VII/Ep. VIII perhaps) turns to the dark side. Jesse Plemons has just that sort of face. Perhaps he did not get enough attention, Luke attending to his studies/teaching. He goes bad, kills Han. Twins retaliate in some Jedi fashion.

    • April 28, 2014 at 2:06 pm

This would be different yet symmetrical. The son, rather than the father, having gone bad. Look, there has to be a bad guy somewhere. It might as well, and possibly be better, if it were someone we know or is related to someone we know.

    • April 28, 2014 at 3:53 pm

Luke made it abundantly clear that his will is much stronger than that of his father Anakin. He would not use his anger or hatred to strike down Vader in battle, so what more would convince him to turn to the dark side? Either way, why would they have an enormous plot point like that be an event taking place between episodes? Do you realize how much confusion that would cause for audiences? I’m hoping the primary antagonist is someone other than a Skywalker.

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:34 pm

    Colonel Blair
    looking as good as ever

Now this is a Jedi you won’t want to get your ass handed to

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:35 pm

Mark will look great when filming starts in the next 2 to 3 months.

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:39 pm

You can’t blame people for being skeptical about the Big 3 returning. Admit it, Disney and Lucasfilm have not given us jack shit about it being official. We’re all going off George’s comment from 2 years ago.

Do I want them back? You’re damn right I do. Am I upset that the powers that be have said not a word? Yep.

    • April 27, 2014 at 9:43 pm

Well im gonna go ahead and blame you for being skeptical. GEORGE LUCAS said (1 year ago) that they were back. As well as all the evidence in the recent weeks. There’s no reason to be skeptical whatsoever. Disney just enjoys jerking us around because we’re all gonna buy a ticket on dec 18 regardless of anything

    • April 27, 2014 at 9:57 pm

I agree, I don’t think there’s a reason to be skeptical. I would go as far to say that jerking around is relative, as the film’s release is still a year and 8 months away. I’m actually worried about not getting any news after the cast is announced… what will we have to nerd over? As exciting as May the 4th will be, seeing a vague bad robot tweet every 2 months is what I’m expecting… haha.

    • April 27, 2014 at 10:03 pm

I just want them to say, Lucasfilm that is, The Big 3 are signed for Episode 7 and the first official day of shooting is… fill in the blank.

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:41 pm

Mark has that look in his eyes, like, “I got this shit!” Go Mark!!

    • April 28, 2014 at 12:49 am

I totally agree. That is the look of confidence and Mark is back, you can definitely see it in his eyes! It’s just to awesome for words! Jedi Master Skywalker … just how awesome is that going to be!? I can’t wait for all the cheering, applause, etc when the Big 3 hit the big screen again in theaters, going to be soooo fun! πŸ™‚

    • April 28, 2014 at 2:11 am

In ROTJ, the audience burst into applause when Darth Vader made his first entrance. Same thing will happen for Luke Skywalker in EP 7.

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:42 pm

His beard needs to grow in a bit.

  • April 27, 2014 at 9:58 pm

♫ I knew once people started showing up in London it would leak out. This is awesome news indeed. Mark is looking good with that beard. ♫

  • April 27, 2014 at 10:11 pm

Just add some jedi mind-tricks, a black glove, a green lightsaber..

  • April 27, 2014 at 10:14 pm

I hope the BIG 3 survive episode 7. Or will there be a Red Jedi Wedding?

    • April 27, 2014 at 10:18 pm

lol. This, and Anakin’s downfall, is exactly why Jedi should NEVER marry.

  • April 27, 2014 at 10:17 pm

Mark Hamill spotted in London. Harrison Ford spotted in London. Coincidence? Obviously not.

And you, skeptics, how many times must some Jedi Master say “trust your instincts” onscreen for you to do just that? Like Yoda and Obi-Wan would say, you still have much to learn…

    • April 28, 2014 at 7:43 pm

*Much to learn, you still have. *fixed

  • April 27, 2014 at 10:33 pm

Luke Skywalker with Darth Maul in London…what are the odds that this meeting is coincidental or non-Star Wars related? Never tell me the odds πŸ™‚

  • April 27, 2014 at 10:34 pm

I imagine he’ll be in ep 7 8 and 9. If he dies he’ll be back as a ghost. Hopefully he whips out that green lightsaber of his one last time before passing on the legacy like old-ben did πŸ™‚ If he randomly gets shot or dies of old age or something I will be pissssed.

    • April 28, 2014 at 12:05 am

Haha that looks cool. How did you put the timing marker in like that?

    • April 28, 2014 at 11:19 am

Pause when you want the time marker to start, Right click on the video and click “copy video URL at current time” πŸ™‚

    • April 27, 2014 at 10:53 pm

At the end of ROTJ where he should remain

    • April 27, 2014 at 11:04 pm

God question. Where is Lando? That all depends on where his character is in the Star Wars galaxy during Episode VII.

I hope he’s in it, but if he’s off doing something unrelated to the gang, it makes sense for him not to make an appearance.

    • April 27, 2014 at 11:28 pm

Lando will be at StarFest in Denver this weekend. Already have my ticket for a picture with him, so I hope he doesn’t back out at the last minute.

    • April 27, 2014 at 11:43 pm

If the rebellion vs empire story is over, then Lando’s story is over. If it’s still the rebels vs empire than I could maybe see him come back as a general or something. They can’t cross the line and bring everyone back though else it would overshadow the new, and also if Luke Han Leia, R2 and 3PO are back, we really do not need to tell Lando’s story too.

    • April 27, 2014 at 11:47 pm

      I disagree.

If Han, Luke, and Leia are all still hanging out with each other, or at least in communication, then there’s no reason that Lando would be left out of the loop.

When we look at wars on Earth like the American Revolution, we see that those who fought a revolution, or rebellion, end up being the ones who establish the new order. Certainly they would have had some kind of continued relationship in this regard.

Not having him back wouldn’t make much sense to me in my opinion.

  • April 27, 2014 at 10:52 pm

Luke Skywalker in episode VII!?!?!?!? That’s not true!! That’s impossible!!!!

  • April 27, 2014 at 11:03 pm

I hope that Im not being trolled by Mark Hamil

  • April 27, 2014 at 11:06 pm

Save this photo for early 2016.

  • April 27, 2014 at 11:14 pm

I- “How important is it for you in preserving the legacy of the franchise, to have some of the familiar faces, the core cast back, and to continue their story as well?”
JJ Abrams – “Well i know that we’re going to be announcing things pretty soon in terms of cast, so when that happens I look forward to talking about it.”

Does anybody still want to tell me that Mark Carrie and Harrison aren’t back?.. I offer now is the chance to tell me.

  • April 27, 2014 at 11:57 pm

Getting very excited – not long to go better late than never !…..

  • April 28, 2014 at 12:58 am

He looks awesome in the photo. Looking forward to an official announcement soon and I hope we will be treated to a group publicity shot of all the old characters back together again and in their new outfits, with Chewie and the Droids, that would be great.

    • April 28, 2014 at 1:11 am

That would look cool. Still not sure about the May 4th annoucement though, I think it will be more rebels related, then epVII couple of weeks later, they want to keep us waiting!

  • April 28, 2014 at 2:09 am

    Arkham City, baby, yeah!

  • April 28, 2014 at 4:50 am

Disney, what a disservice you’ve done to these actors by not announcing their casting before it all unceremoniously leaked out. They deserve more.

Lando: I’m OK saving him for Episode VIII. There will be too much to fit into VII as is. I expect Marvel to do a pre-Episode VII mini-series that will either have Lando in it and will explain where he’ll be or at least reference him.

  • April 28, 2014 at 10:12 am

I find it ironic that Carrie Fisher — who has been the only one to CONFIRM the Big 3 will be back — is NOT in London right now according to her Tweet. I hope that doesn’t mean anything (IE a recast as has been rumored before.)

Also, I don’t believe in coincidences so Mark and Harrison in London just as Episode 7 is about to begin Principal Photogrpahy is a absolute confirmation.

Lastly, Harrison had a beard about 2 weeks ago according to his Reddit. The last time we saw Mark he was clean shaven. Now, Mark has his Oni-wan beard and Harry is clean shaven a la General Han Solo — LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!

    • April 28, 2014 at 11:24 am
Permalink Carrie’s clearly being sarcastic in her tweet haha. Why would her dog be in London without her? lol. JediNews are reporting that she has been spotted, and now Carrie’s tweet basically confirms it.

  • April 28, 2014 at 10:44 am

Good to see that Mark is in shape — and this is even before makeup! We will have no problem recognizing Jedi Master Skywalker when he hits the big screen next year.

Despite certain flaws, the Star Wars saga is a really special media phenomenon, spanning decades and generations both internally and externally. In the future, you can watch Return of the Jedi and then progress to Episode VII, and ta da, everyone is 30 years older — not by means of special make-up effects (a la Back to the Future) or recasting (as when young/old Obi Wan necessarily had to be portrayed by different people). No, here the original actors have aged and matured quite naturally.

It is great that the old plan of a “trilogy of trilogies” will indeed come to fruition, especially since Return of the Jedi was not quite strong enough to stand as the final entry in such an ambitious series.

The challenge will be to find a plot that can stand as a natural continuation of the original six episodes, and not some kind of tacked-on afterthought. Perhaps the Dark Side of the Force is itself the ultimate enemy; Palpatine and his Empire was just a manifestation of it.

    • April 28, 2014 at 12:13 pm

Or perhaps ‘balance of the force’ means a balance between light and dark. There should be a balance of the two ideologies. That’s what I’d like to see, anyway.

  • April 28, 2014 at 10:00 pm

Surely Peter knew better than to post that, considering all the secrecy.
