Star Wars Battlefront: New Modes & More Heroes/Villains.

Battlefront2013

With less than a month until release, DICE is going all-out with promoting Star Wars Battlefront. The EA subsidiary has unveiled three game modes and more playable heroes and villains.

For those not aware previously, the first three characters confirmed to be playable Heroes and Villains were Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker, and Darth Vader. Recently added to that list are three more characters – Emperor Palpatine, Han Solo, and Princess Leia. Take a look below to see how they all look in-game:

Luke Skywalker Darth Vader Battlefront

Sheev Palpatine Battlefront

Han Solo Battlefront

Leia Organa Battlefront

It’s worth taking note of these Heroes and Villains, because they will be the subject of their own mode – the aptly named “Heroes VS Villains”. In this 6-versus-6 mode, players choose three different hero or villain characters, and each side is accompanied by three regular soldiers. After this, there’s the “Battles” mode, which pits players against other players and AI-controlled soldiers as each side rushes to get the 100 points to win the match.  (This mode also has a variant called “Hero Battles”, which is the same thing but with an added Hero/Villain component.) Finally, there’s a “Training Missions” mode that will allow players to ease themselves into the game, explaining many key mechanics. The other modes included in the game at launch are “Walker Assault”, “Fighter Squadron”, “Supremacy”, “Cargo”, “Droid Run”, “Blast”, “Drop Zone”, and “Hero Hunt”.

Battlefront arrives on November 17, with the free downloadable expansion Battle Of Jakku (which ties into The Force Awakens itself) arriving two weeks later. Players who pre-order the game will get early access to this expansion.

I am sure they will add more through the DLC content. I imagine they will do a Force Awaken expansion and we will be able to play as the new heroes and villains. Fingers crossed.

They don’t say. I get the feeling that there might be a few more, though. (The Empire would probably get a few more Bounty Hunters, while the Rebellion could get Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Lando Calrissian.)

Yeah and baddies we need Bossk, Dengar, IG-88, hell I’d want to play as Jabba.

Though I wouldn’t be surprised if the add Rey, Finn Phasma and Kylo Ren

When did Hayden Christensen get Luke’s haircut? Luke’s too short to be a Stormtrooper, but the same height as Darth Vader?

Maybe the cop out reason is that luke is technically closer to the camera than vader? I havent played the game yet but I’ve watched some youtube clips and I want to say he is still shorter? I could be wrong.

One day, we won’t even need ‘real’ actors in Star Wars movies. Just their CGI counterparts that look as good as the real thing.

This is why recasting Han Solo is a stupid idea.

Playing the Emperor would be great fun, I wonder if his character cackles after each kill. That’s pretty much what he did in Lords of the Sith.

Really enjoyed the beta. Hopefully they will fix some of the rough spots. Respawn points and collision detection has something to be desired, but overall it feels like Star Wars.

So I was waiting to get a ps4 till xmas or next year cuz I really wanted the new Final Fantasy game but then I saw the bundle deal that gets you battle front and a 500 gb Darth Vader PS4. I think I played the old battlefront and never really got into it. Think this is worth the purchase? Its only 400, but I don’t know how into Battlefront I’m going to get this time around.

I really hope the emperor is able to use his lightsaber. That would be completely BADASS!!!

They must have gotten the actor’s rights to use their likeness as these are pretty damn film accurate. I’d like to see some TFA characters though.

And will any of this be playable off-line, or off-line split screen? Oh, no, it won’t? Thanks anyways, EA, I’ll just wait for the next installment (B2ttlefont) when you add those back in..

I say this as someone who dislikes the prequels – Not including any prequel characters/environments/battles is SELFISH! There are plenty of people who want to be a young Obi Wan, Yoda, Mace Windu, Darth Maul and so on. This is such a kick in the teeth to people who enjoy the prequels, selfishly so. Its like a bunch of 40 year olds taking away toys from kids. Its pathetic.

As someone that likes the prequels, and would loooove to see young obi-wan, mace windu and others in this game, I don’t really see it as a kick in the teeth. However, I do expect future games from them that would include some prequel characters. If I didn’t get that, I just might feel cheated… but for now if they wanna focus on the OT characters I don’t mind, it’s still awesome.

you do realize that this is all because they will add a PT expansion pack later on for which you have to pay. It’s not pathetic, it’s business.

Honestly I wish this game was coming to coincide with the Blu ray release of Ep VII, and not the theatrical.
