It’s great to see the Death Troopers return and maybe they’re going to be a fixture throughout this last season. But I hope they don’t speak anymore and are shown as the bad asses that they’re supposed to be.

Yeah… that was my one complaint from their last appearance. They went down too easy. Honestly even within the time frame of the show they could have shown them put up more of a fight. I don’t mind them talking but they needed to have a cooler modulation to their voices.

No, no one ever takes a fall like the Battle Droids.

That’s one thing I miss about TCW. Funny stormies do not compare to Roger, Roger’s.

They were fighting a Jedi, a Mandalorian, and the leader of a Rebel cell. I tihnk it’s fair they got a bloody lip.

Losing is fine. How well you fought before you went down can speak volumes. Instead of the Storm Troopers at the end it should have been three Death Troopers. Making the heroes work for it a bit more. There’s lot of little polish that could have been added here and there.

That said… time and budget etc. I thought these two were a huge step up from the debut episodes.

Eh. I won’t make excuses for them this season.

The first two episodes were mega weak. I enjoyed the idea of the super weapon created by Sabine that targeted Mandalorian armor, but the fact that the most impactful moment from the episodes was a fake out. Boo.

And it felt rushed, even in a two episode arc. Dave got to finish the Mando story line, sort of, but it still came out limp.

Second set was better. Still felt rushed though. Dunno what’s going on, have to say I’m pretty bummed though.

Yeah I wont argue that at all. I was really worried after the first two. I was ok with the next set simply because the story taking place wasn’t as involved. Like Sabine’s story concluding there was sort of a big deal to rush through unceremoniously. Especially after all that build up.

Completely agree on the fake out. That’s when you’re reminded it’s a kids show. Would be pretty heavy to have one of the heroes design a weapon that ended up killing their own mother lol.

Remember in season 1 though. They literally beheaded the Saturday Morning Cartoon Imperial Officer Patrol.

They can do dark. I dunno why they didn’t follow through on the death of her family. That would have been fing epic.

there are from 5 to seven episodes so far which are worth watching

Every premier and finale is awesome (besides the latest one, IMO). That’s 12 right there (as all of them are two-parters). Then there are some really fantastic episodes in the middle (WARNING: some minor spoilers):

        1. The Tatooine episode
        2. The Lothal temple episode
        3. The Y-Wing episode
        4. The first Mando episode
        5. The darksaber-Sabine arc
        6. The clone re-introduction arc.
        7. The B-Wing episode.

I would say close to 50% of the episodes are really good.

Heck, I even enjoyed the space-whale and AP-5 episodes.

        • October 28, 2017 at 1:20 pm
          Permalink

I count the finales and premier as 1 episode, so that reduces the number a bit, so for me the good episodes are:

          2.1 Siege of Lothal(premier)

          2.21 Twilight of the apprentice(finale)

          3.1 Steps into shadow(premier)

          3.17 Through Imperial Eyes

          3.18 Secret cargo

3.20 Twin suns-if you are interested in seeing Maul arc end then you should see it otherwise the episode is about going through desert

3.21 Zero hour (finale)-the best episode of the whole series according to me

So this is basicly it, I personally don’t like the Mando arc and darksaber episodes, same goes for the clones arc. The B-wing episode is good only problem I have with it is the B-wing ,,superlaser,,. Other episodes that I find watchable but not as good as those I listed are
Ghost of Geonosis and The Antilles Extraction episodes + I of course enjoy every Thrawn moment in the show. From season 1 I don’t like any episodes.

So in total I have 8 good episodes and 2 watchable ones.

I would sum up Rebels vs. TCW this way:

      1. TCW at its best and Rebels at its best are about on par with each other.
      2. Rebels at its worst is much better than TCW at its worst.
      3. Rebels is much more linear than TCW as there are fewer main characters and plot threads.
      4. Rebels has far fewer episodes than TCW so it’s easy to binge the whole thing.
      5. If you loved TCW, you’re going to love some of the characters they start adding to Rebels in Season 2.
      6. Kanan is one of the best written characters in Star Wars. Period.

Agreed on Kanan, he doesn’t start out that way, but he definitely transitions.

Also I feel like Ezra pulls an Ahsoka, starts out annoying and slowly becomes cooler. But never as cool as Ahsoka. There is that.

For some reason he never bothered me. I think his character design really got to some people. Sure he looked a bit like a certain street rat but what can ya do?

My favorite is always a bad guy gone good. Kallus kind of faded into the background but I still like him.

Rebels much more a kid’s show. It’s more Saturday morning. The animation is lower quality than TCW, and the stories and universe seem much smaller scale and simplified. The main character, Ezra, is borderline unbearable. That being said, there are some very cool episodes. Basically all the ones that have Vader are pretty good. Just an opinion from a grown man critiquing a kid’s cartoon.

Yeah that’s what i suspected. I guess I’ll check out the Vader episodes and Thrawn too.

I watched the first season and left, no stakes, all missions are recovering bombs for the Rebellion and kinda forgettable. Since it’s canon, I’d love if someone made a fan-edit of all 4 seasons into a 2 1/2 hour movie that covers all bases.

You missed the best season, then. Season 2 is phenomenal. Season 3 was also solid, if not as tight in its episode-to-episode pacing.

I’d give it a try but there’s just so much stuff to watch, and so little time

    • October 26, 2017 at 1:17 am

Or you could try a second opinion.

Rebels is easily as good as the Clone Wars. It has fewer weird arcs over all and a tighter story to tell.

If you watched the Clone Wars, it also finishes a lot of the arcs that were left open in that series.

It’s no more Saturday morning than TCW was. It’s not as dark, but it still has its moments (See most of Season 2).

Give it a shot, it’s a great show.

I’d say it has as many “WOW” and “meh” episodes in proportion as the Clone Wars. I would say that Rebels has more filler episodes that don’t further the plot much. I would also say that the Clone Wars middle of the road episodes may be a little better than Rebels as well. All that said, I still anxiously await each episode. My wife and I love the show.

I think TCW had way more filler and pointless side arcs, to be honest. Think about all those droid and Jar Jar episodes…

    Now this is disturbing

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_WaaGDQYAg

    Thruth-full coment:
,,13 rebel ships came out of Hyperspace.
There were 8 star destroyers that we saw in orbit above the planet. Each
star destroyer is equipped with 72 tie fighters. Not even counting all
the support vessels, that means there were 576 tie fighters waiting to
engage those 13 rebel fighters. On top of that, Thrawn was heading the
defense. There is no way the Rebels can win this at all. That is
    absolutely impossible.
Which only means that we’re going to see the worst case of plot armor in this show’s history.,,

After the last two “In the name of the Rebellion” (the best in a while cause last 2 seasons have been lots of mehs), i would prefer to follow that way. Connections with films and characters, the real cause of the rebels….
Could be interesting to see backstage from more Rogue One characters and the rebel fight to see the new canon is doing right things.
Cassian, Krennic, Galen, known rebel generals… should be in this. With more Tarkin, Organa… And begin to ‘finish’ plot lines
