‘The Acolyte’ Coming to CCXP Mexico on Saturday, Brief New Footage Revealed In New Spots

Two new spots have been revealed for The Acolyte, the new Star Wars series that comes out in a little over a month. In addition, it’s been confirmed that Dafne Keen and Amandla Stenberg are coming to a panel on CCXP Mexico this Saturday, May 4.

The global nature of the Acolyte cast is spotlighted here. For starters, Lee Jung-jae introduces a new spot that played on South Korean TV, which you can see here:

Similarly, Dafne Keen (who was born in Madrid and raised in the UK) hypes up in Spanish her appearance at the Mexico City convention on May 4 in the following social media post:

Amandla Stenberg is also confirmed to be appearing on Saturday. With two actresses now in line to appear on the panel, the question is: will they be bringing something special?

The Acolyte is set to debut a new promo video (likely a behind-the-scenes reel) after screenings of The Phantom Menace this weekend. A new trailer will almost certainly come out before the series launches on June 4, and doing so a month before the two-episode premiere makes a lot of sense. But they could also show it to convention attendees and hold it for the general public until early next week (hoping that it doesn’t leak online).

What’s also interesting about this piece of news is how they are positioning Dafne Keen in the cast. Though she’s playing a Jedi Padawan and seemed to be “just another” actress in the show, she had a spotlight interview and two character photos with Entertainment Weekly earlier this month, and is now coming to the convention to represent the series. Of course, being a native Spanish speaker may have helped, but it’s not the first time they have positioned her as a sort of third lead, after Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-jae.

We will find out for sure on June 4, when the first two episodes are available on Disney Plus.
