‘Star Wars’ August 2024 Comics Preview: The Sith Come to ‘The High Republic’, Leia Risks It All, and More

If online speculation is true, September 2024 may be the biggest month for Star Wars comics in years. Between a possible one-shot from The Acolyte and the looming(?) finales of the ongoing Star Wars and Darth Vader lines, it’s getting exciting around these parts. And now, thanks to everything we know is coming this August, the stage is about to be set.

Headlining August is The High Republic, with five releases. Cavan Scott’s current Phase III run is ending as George Mann’s Echoes of Fear miniseries kicks off. At the center is Darth Ravi, an ancient Sith Lord whose story promises to be something to behold. Remember when we asked Claudia Gray if her Quest of the Jedi one-shot would pay off? That time has arrived. Plus, the next chapter of the Edge of Balance manga hits shelves. Elsewhere, Leia’s Alderaanian demons threaten the entire Alliance while her father, Darth Vader, faces a final reckoning.

Before we get going, here are a few recent things in the galaxy of Star Wars comics you may have missed:

Now, looking ahead to August, check with your local comic book shop on what pre-order options they have available (or you can be boring and choose digital). You can visit here for a refresher on what else is coming from Star Wars comics. As a reminder, the very nature of comic solicitations is spoiler-filled, so be aware before going forward.
