‘The Bad Batch’ Creators Leave the Door Open for Asajj Ventress, Republic Commandos to Reappear

Following the reveal of Asajj Ventress for The Bad Batch season 3, producers Jennifer Corbett and Brad Rau spoke with The Direct and left the door open for Ventress to possibly appear in other media. The pair also touched upon the 2005 video game Republic Commando and the character Scorch, and whether or not Delta Squad could appear in future projects.

The big jaw-dropping moment from The Bad Batch season 3 trailer was the return of Asajj Ventress. While many fans are still left wondering how the character could reappear after the ending of the novel Dark Disciple, the team has insisted that they will remain respectful of that book. But to explain how Ventress has come back in the story, producer Brad Rau suggests that may be explained in a different project later down the line:

“We talked with our creative team to figure out that we could bring her into the storyline. We were very excited. We pulled designs from unaired arcs of the Clone Wars which inspired the novel Dark Disciple, and we’re not contradicting anything that happened in Dark Disciple.

But I will say that not all of the answers to the mystery of interest will be told in The Bad Batch show. There may be future answers down the road in something else. But it was really great to have that character in our show to interact with our characters. [It] was really cool.”

Another fan-favorite character that has been present throughout The Bad Batch is Scorch. The original leader of Delta Squad from the video game Republic Commando has reappeared throughout the show, but, unfortunately, his teammates haven’t. Producer Jennifer Corbett also leaves the door open for Scorch and Delta Squad to show up in later works:

“Well, for The Bad Batch, you’ll be seeing Scorch more. But, as for other Republic Commandos, I can’t really say. But you know, there are so many stories to tell in Star Wars. So I’d say nothing’s out of the realm of possibility for future content.”

The Bad Batch season 3 premiere airs on Disney Plus on February 21. With the series soon coming to an end, fans still don’t know what Lucasfilm’s animation team will move on to after The Bad Batch. However, rumor has it there may be spin-offs of Tales of the Jedi in development, focusing on the Sith and Bounty Hunters.
