Ariana Greenblatt Trained for ‘Ahsoka’ While Filming ‘Barbie,’ Credits Rosario Dawson as Her Mentor
Variety rolled out the red carpet yesterday evening for their “Power of Women” event celebrating the accomplishments of women in the entertainment industry and hosting attendees, such as Margot Robbie, Emily Blunt, Meghan Markle, and of course, our very own Ariana Greenblatt.
Greenblatt introduced honoree Billie Eilish, at the event, but prior to the start of the celebration, was interviewed on the red carpet where she was asked what it was like to wield a lightsaber in Ahsoka. Greenblatt only had positive things to say about her experience filming Star Wars, and mentioned that she actually trained for the role while filming Barbie. Greenblatt also goes out of her way to mention how supportive Rosario Dawson was throughout the process. Check out the clip and full quote below:

Ariana Greenblatt responded:
“…It was amazing. I got to train for, I think, around two months. I was actually training during filming Barbie, but I obviously couldn’t tell anyone. It was really incredible, and to just fully immerse myself in that space, and everyone that works on Star Wars is the biggest Star Wars fan, which makes the environment that much better. But yeah, the stunt training was crazy! Rosario Dawson was my mentor through it all, so shout out to her.”

Greenblatt continues to take Hollywood by storm with no expectation that her schedule will become any lighter in the near future. Clearly, she’s proven she’s able to handle the momentum after having filmed a major blockbuster, Barbie, while also training for Ahsoka. Her comments on the experience echo the rest of the Ahsoka cast, including those cast members of other Star Wars shows like The Mandalorian, regarding the enthusiastic and positive filming environment.
As Star Wars continues to add more prominent female characters into the narrative universe, I expect the support system will only grow stronger.
When she isn't watching her friends and family's eyes glaze over at the mention of The Clone Wars, she's at the park with her dog, Melvin, or on the couch with a book in one hand and a drink in the other. Physically, she lives in Ohio; spiritually, she lives in Naboo.
